Default Flooding on Hume Highway, Sthn NSW

Dont know if anybody has already posted this but a few travel warnings for anybody heading South tonight:

As of 3pm this afternoon the Hume Highway, Olympic Highway and Sturt Highways were all closed due to flooding. The Hume stops at Holbrook in both directions and the Olympic stops at Wagga in the North and Albury in the South, the Sturt Highway is closed between Wagga and Narrandera.

I was unlucky enough to be driving home from Albury this afternoon and got caught in it - Holbrook's main street (which is the Hume Hwy) was under 1m of water - no way you'd get through.

If youre heading South best check that the route you plan to take is still open. Check:

Just like the old days, the Newell used to flood all the time up near Ardlethan and further north, Hume was always flooded south of Tarcutta too.
It's just we haven't had any decent rain in years, people tend to forget how bad it was.

Parts of Wagga got some decent flooding today, waiting for some pictures to surface, but there was ALOT of water in some places in the suburbs around the lake and out towards bakers lane I believe, will be lots of damaged property come tomorrow.

There was water across a lot of streets in Darlington Point today, with the water going under some of the houses in some places. There was also water across the road to Griffith (Kidman Way) but was not enough to close it.

Get your sandbags ready in a few days then. Minor flooding predicted (8m) for here at about 8:00pm tonight.

Hume Hwy is still closed at Holbrook and floodwaters are apparently rising.

That means people won't be able to get their pies from holbrook Bakery :( (thats an honest damn shame in itself)

This is terrible news for the Freestone’s kids as well as DRT, Damorage Racing Team, as most of them have never been off the main road before.

They’ll be there for days.

I still remember my first trip up through there in an old K 123. The water was over the headlights in many places.
