Hi all
I had my AU LTD series 1 re-painted over 12 months ago and the panel beater told me that I had a problem with a wiring/harness plug somewhere in the front end of my LTD...I don't know if he is pulling my leg but it has been on my mind for a while now. I supplied a new lower radiator deflector (black plastic filler under the bumper) to be installed as mine had a few battle scars...I'm not sure if the bumper was completely removed for painting but was told that I had a male/female plug that was disconnected and damaged somewhere in the frontal region. When the plugs were connected, the car was said to run/idle 'better' but wouldn't stay connected due to damage. I haven't pulled the bumper off for a good look, but is there anything I should be looking for?,my first thought was emission control but find it hard to believe that a simple damaged plug that made the car 'run better' would be so close to the frontal impact area. The lower radiator deflector that was replaced had a dealer sticker from 2005 so I assume the car must have have had a frontal impact/damage and repairs before I was the owner. My LTD has extractors from the previous owner and I feel it idles and runs fine...Ford service the car to the book and have never mentioned a thing. Is the panel beater full of it? It's doin my head in |

There's an airflow temperature sensor in the bumper on my AUIII fairmont, I'm not sure whether that's solely for the climate control module or it's also used for engine management?
I've been flushing my cooling system the last couple of days so I've removed that deflector and have been sticking my head around that area, I'm very curious and keep getting distracted by interesting looking parts, so I haven't just been concentrating on the radiator and hoses. I can't really think of anything else electrical around there that I've spotted. There's a purge canister or similar hidden behind the passenger side of the bumper (I had bits of it ripped out when I hit a wombat) but I'm not sure there's any electricals running that way. Undo the deflector and have a look yourself? |
