Curious to know what others are using in their E series.
On the EF Fairmont with just over 250,000 on the clock, I'm running Shell Helix HX5 15w-40 and for fuel just topped up 98 premium. |

Oil: Liquimoly 10w40 (unable to confirm, but that is what I was told was put in last service)
Fuel: always 95, or only if I have to, 98.

Umm... Just that on BP 98 (I have AU XR fuel reg, injectors and AU XR6 VCT engine with an EF ECU), the engine tends to ping from 2500rpm up...
Issue is that I spend most of my time over 2500rpm... I haven't got a tune just yet though, but I find i've got more power on 95 than 98..

On my NA EF 6cyl I have always used Magnatec 10w/40w
And always use BP 98 or Caltex 98 (not woolworths/Safeway)

Penrite sin20 and bp98. Recently made the move from castrol edge 25-50w. Engine is happier with the penrite I feel.

N/A EL I6 with 120,000 kays.
Fuel - 91 octane - whatever's cheaper, usually either APCO or Caltex, never BP, the local BP is rubbish. Oil - Castrol GTX 15W40. I noticed sweet fa difference in performance when I've filled up with 95 or 98 so I stick with good ole 91. When you have a stock automatic car that rarely sees any action past 2,000 rpm, it's a waste of money. Plus I'm a cheapskate.

Used to use Penrite in my old Land Cruiser, but found it not to my liking in the BA. Mechanic put in Shell Helix HX7 AJ 10w-30 and it feels much smoother on idle, and has no tappet noise when cold.
Will be changed every 5,000km. Plain old Woolies 91 Ron with a splash of Moreleys Upper cylinder lubricant each fill. Now returning less than 11L / 100km. Very happy!

Any 91 except BP in Bulla, that place sells recycled sewerage mixed with 10% ethanol I reckon.
15W-40 Nulon oil. 250,000km on the clock on my EL Fairmont Ghia. |

Most of the time I fuel up with 98, only occasionally does it get fueled up with 95.
And 'Nulon Hi-Tech Fast Flowing Synthetic Engine Oil - 10W-40' Runs like a dream for a car that's done 270,000ish KM's. |
