Hey guys im gonna start doing the oil changes on my fg my self and i was wondering if a 1400kg jack will be okay on my fg which is around 1700kg?\

will be fine, your only lifting at most half the car at once time
Remember to use jack stands!

yeah i thought that! ive got 2x 3tonne jack stands :P for an oil change what should i mount the jack off?

If you look in your manual it should have a picture with jacking points.

lift it from the drivers side... that way the oil will run out. Make sure you have a filter wrench, dealers always put them on super tight and when you don't have the car on a hoist its hard to get leverage on them.

I picked up a set of filter wrenches, rather than that POS strap thing, it works so much better, they come in all different sizes, it fits over the oil filter exactly and you put a 1/4" ratchet into it, turn it anti-clockwise and it takes off the filter with ease.

just punch a screw driver into the filter..not like ur gonna be re using it.

Ramps? couple of short pieces of 4x 2 under the back of the driver side ramp for a little bit of lean and a couple of bricks behind the back wheels with the hand brake on and in park or reverse. Not much chance of anything falling on you then. And I have seen lighter stands (1500kg each) collapse not even close to their rated load capacity.
