Hi all

I am after the wheel allignment specs for the AU3 XR8.

Tyre fitter should have that. I always get 2mm toe in. Makes it a bit more responsive. You also need a 4 wheel wheel alignment.

What sort of driving do you do? If you drive like a normal person then use the factory specs in the handbook. If you tend to drive "spiritedly" and want more responsive steering and not suffer from bad tyre wear them PM me for some figures - I'm sick of putting figures up in threads and have "experts" want to argue. I'll just tell you what I use and you can try it or leave it - if you try it and like it you will be happy. If it doesn't end up to your liking then at least you know what works for you and what doesn't. Everyone drives differently and has different expectations.

Specs are broard....Camber varies about 1 degree....Toe varies about 6 MM....All this means you can have tyre wear issues if it's set to the outer ranges of these specs.

Have you any previous alignment reports?? What sort of wear are you getting from the front tyres? Any particular edge/tyre wearing quicker than the other/s.

All goes to help in giving a reasonabe guide for the settings.

Thanks for advise.
My wife drives this car so not so much "spirited" driving.
The steering feels very light compared to my Au xr6 ute?
Just had a new set of tyres fitted to the xr8 and wheel allignment.
Bob Jane did not supply final allignment specs of vehicle.
Feels like the inside of front tyres is starting to feather.

I am giving the xr8 a new set of Koni shocks next week and then wish to get front end and rear end allignment.(not bob jane this time)

Would like the factory settings so I can compare with the allignment outcome.

Cheers

Unfortunately the factory specs are as I previously described....Big variations.

Maybe try 1/4 to 3/4 degree camber, with 2MM to 3MM total toe in on the front.

Rear, upto 3Mm total toe in.

The toe settings are camber dependant..ie, the more negative the camber, the greater you toe them in. This helps spread the "weight" over the tyre surface, which helps with the wear.

The standard specs should be fine, and are as follows -

Front -
Caster, +7.3 +/-0.5
Camber, -1 +/-0.3
Toe, +2mm +/-1mm

Rear -
Camber, -0.5 +/-0.25
Toe, 2mm +/-1.2mm

If the fronts are feathering on the inside, you could add a frag more toe-in.
