I don't think so.
I think nearly all dealers had to diversify to stay in business. Actually is Thomson Ford in Parramatta still Ford only? |

Yep, sure are. For new cars that is, second hand is whatever they have to sell.
Your local dealer wouldn't be Jeff Wignall Ford would it? They are a Ford and Kia dealer in all of their locations.

If you're asking are there any dealers that only sell the 1 brand at a particular site? Then yes, many.
If you mean they only sell 1 brand, anywhere? Then probably not. In Newcastle, the largest dealer sells just about every brand available, but each brand has its own site, (with the exception of Chrysler/Jeep & Nissan I think it is, or maybe it's Nissan/Mitsubushi?). This dealer in fact takes up about half of a city suburb with car yards. Some are over the street from each other, some are down the street &/or around the corner. They then have more yards in other suburbs & cities, but all are one brand only. |

Yeah but as you said they are really the Eagers group, so not really only Ford. But I know what you mean.

Looks like you can't survive long term on one brand any more.

I guess until they are bought out by a 'multi' dealer, it seems to be just a matter of time.

I too thought Bryan Byrt bought the then-ailing Denmac group last year.
I was actually sent by BBF to Denmac for spare parts, because that was where Bryan Byrt had recently centralised their spare parts division. Having said that, I noticed a couple of years ago how Bryan Byrt had to add the additional Skoda and Renault franchises, just as the media noise was getting louder about the declining Falcon sales numbers. My realisation at that time was that it would be very difficult for Ford dealers to remain aligned to the Ford brand alone. |

their Maitland yard has 2 brands ( highway ford / Hyundai are part of the Kloster group)
I think City Ford Sydney are a one brand outfit though Quote:

It can be interesting though, as this dealership has complete control over some brands in the Hunter (eg Ford, need to drive to the Central Coast to find a dealership not in this network), but much less control over others eg Suzuki- another dealer network has a much bigger dealership in Lake Mac. And some of the other dealerships do combine brands, eg the one at Raymond Terrace is a combo Ford/Hyundai on the one tiny lot. Bit cramped haha! But yeah, in Newcastle nearly every dealership is connected to a much bigger network. Can work with you, as when I traded the Ford in every brand I wanted to deal with knew of my issues and to help me out- was happy with that! : )

Renault are major share holders in Nissan..
They share the mechanic section while have having separate showrooms.. Motor group out Penrith share, as do Mitsi, Nissan, Toyota Pennant Hills..

First year apprentices for westpoint Ford start at kia fitting dealer accesories to new cars. When I was looking for an apprenticeship applied to Westpoint Ford and was told First years start across the road at Kia. They also said they are owned by the same person/company.
