Sourcing a vehicle interstate through local dealer

I'm in a spot and thought I'd suss the wisdom on here generally and those on here in the game.

I have a couple of vehicles I like but being fussy neither are here in Adelaide. I'm tied down to buying a vehicle locally through lease restrictions must be in home state. So my question is how keen or engaged would a Ford dealer be (I have a limited list of acceptable dealers too) to source a vehicle for me if I pointed them at them and would they be inclined to try and drill me a new one financially if they would do it? It's a PAIN living here esp when vehicles aren't exactly overstocked nationally in the Ford camp. I though if dealership was even in the same corporate camp it may be easier but I haven't been able to make any connection between where the vehicles are and local dealers here.

Any help appreciated.

If the dealer is happy to swap the car to your local dealer it won't be a problem. There will be freight costs though, who is going to pay for that?

Also remember there is stock you can't see either, meaning pool stock in certain models.

If you are looking on carsales there will be a stock number, that number will tell who the dealer is.

I've tried that with both cars we currently have.
The Focus was difficult as my local dealer stuffed up our order and on the day of pickup I refused to take delivery of it and there were none anywhere locally that they could find.

Managed to locate one interstate and spoke to the dealer there about my interest in it.
From that point on they would not entertain the thought of swapping it with my local dealer, because as far as they were concerned, I would be buying it from them anyway.

In the end I bought it off them and they delivered to another Ford dealer that they did have an affiliation with, and I picked it up from there.

I guess if it isn't an unusual car or fully optioned then it might be possible, but if there aren't many of them around then getting a dealer to relinquish it to another dealer might be hard.
