Looks like the one on my dads old Ferguson tractor, but haven't seen it for a few years & it's 400km away :-)

My thoughts it is a Lucas generator from the 1940's to early '50's.
They had the markings stamped in the body, possibly they are under that paint. |

Pending what it came off, it could possibly have a positive earth.
What earth is it, that would narrow down what it is alot. If its 12V positive earth then I suspect its Lucas C39PV2 Dynamo, 1950's Austin, Jowett, MG, Morgan, Morris, Triumph

EA2BA is more on the money I reckon. The felt lubricator and cast impeller are the clues.I know with the MG's they changed from cast to folded sheetmetal type impellers in the very early '50's. And Lucas was used across most UK cars back then.

Thanks for all the reply's and comments, does anyone think these are worth anything, and it's to heavy to be a paper weight, so if it's worth nothing, trash it is.

If you can confirm the model, could be worth upto $300 for someone looking for one.

Have a look carefully around the body to see if there signs of any ID stampings. If you can see some, you could maybe put it on ebay. Postage costs may be prohibitive though.

Thanks, it does have some unreadable markings, but I will have to damage the paint to see them, guessing it is worth it as the paint job I did one it hundreds of moons ago can be fixed

Pretty much it looks pretty in RED, but nearly every single one I can find is painted black basically, so I don't think the age of the paint would add much to the value.

as the red paint is not original ,it is possibly more valuable with the housing lettering displayed, the lettering will probably give at least an arrow giving direction of rotation, a 35 or 40 number(amps) 6v or 12v the brass thumbscrew(lubrication) at the back makes me think that it is agricultural use 6v fergy style 1948-1960 ish
