Supposedly Ford is still working on
a twin turbo V8 as a Hellcat killer for the GT500 and an optional engine for the Raptor.

Very exciting! More so because it seems that all Ford performance products will have factory approved performance upgrades!

I would have liked to have seen the Miami motor fitted to create a truly unique Australian spec Mustang. Surely it could have passed Euro V emissions without too much trouble. The rest of the engine is a tried and true package, with low compression forged internals. All it needs is an intercooler. I'm concerned about bolting on blowers to 11:1 comp engines designed for natural aspiration.

"Roush is also in the early development phase of the 2.3-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine in the Mustang EcoBoost, which will eventually be the top-selling Mustang in Australia and could easily deliver 370kW – up from the standard sub-$45,000 car's 233kW and more than the standard Mustang GT (303kW)."

That's impressive!!!

Assuming thats about 370rwhp, or about 270rwkw thats pretty impressive straight from the factory with Roush gear. Would be expecting low 12s in an auto. If only it was 5 seats.

Would limit the amount of boost you could pass through the engine but I guess it just needs to run 57,000 kms (36,000 miles)/3 years which is the warranty they give in the US. Not sure if it will get the full 100,000 kms/3 years we get here.

Looking at the specs from their site, it looks like the compression remains untouched.

Dual VCT helps reduce cylinder pressure if need be. It's not like boosting a high comp pushrod engine.

I'm not big on the look of the Roush Mustangs in the link. Looks a little too messy/HSV.
The black vents, scoop and side stripes are a little too much for me.

As for the 500KW. Shibbles yes!!

Yes, but what's the point of boosting it up only to expel part of it continuously? Wouldn't it be better to run a more usable lower boost setting?

These wouldn't run much boost anyway, so I doubt it's even an issue.

I asked the Qld Environmental Protection Agency (in charge of noise pollution) the same question and was told "that's how they come from the factory". Say What??
I said "No they don't, and even if that was true, then how do they pass ADR etc'.." Couldn't/wouldn't answer that one.
Just another Govco department full of oxygen thieves sucking money out of the Govco purse.

The story I heard was that the Harley's come with a legal exhaust system but that they don't run properly with it. It is only to keep the authorities happy. When the customers buy the bike they junk the factory exhaust and fit straight through pipes. The bikes run fine with them and the dealers make a nice profit on the new exhaust.

Ford have more stringent drive by noise standards as an OEM than the aftermarket do- this is why the likes of Herrod and some others can get the exact same system ADR approved.

Agree, they will be low boost only.

Why don't a workshop do Miami conversions on the mustang? A proper set of internals and compression for boost
