Do they have a temp gauge/light?
The owners overheat the engine enough to crack the head that could possible cause a fire. They probably ground to a halt with a stuffed engine first. With all the upcoming social media hype, all the current owners will get over concerned and think that it will just catch fire as they just casually drive to the shops. |

Having said that, haven't seen many new cars in that price bracket that do have a low coolant light. My Getz didn't even have a gauge, just had a 'you're stuffed' red indicator light. The Honda Jazz's we had at my last job had a 'don't flog it' blue light that would go out after about 3-5 mins along side the 'you're stuffed' light. Also had no temp gauge. Considering most people who would drive a car like a Kuga normally start the car, slam it in to 'D' for 'Doesn't drive a manual' and floor it, all before the idle even settles, then crank the volume to 11 with one hand on the stereo, and on their other hand are texting\Farcebooking their ROFL-BFF whilst belting the kids in the back with their third hand, probably wouldn't know the car was over-heating until it either seized to a stop or caught fire..

Funnily enough in the past 3 or so years, the imported Euro stuff has done more damage to the brand than Falcon/Territory ever has, the same people attacking the Falcon have gone quiet and so have the sales (Ranger exempt). |

It wasn't so much the taxi image of the falcon that damaged ford oz. It was falcon drivers!

Guy actually died in one , car burst into flames , people filming it , then they realise someone is inside it. Tragic. that's more than enough reason to recall.
Ford is South Africa has been copping it for a while over this. |

The problem with Ford and recalls is that they only do them after a sustained social media campaign by disgruntled owners. This is what happened in this case from my understanding.

Yeah we know , look at ford Focus issues still going on after 3 years. We went out and purchased a Brand new Toyota this weekend after being ford loyal. Ford has now lost our business for now.

It depends on how long it takes to actually have a fix. You cant recal something and then the problem still persists.
