Hi Guys,
Got a 99 au series 1 which runs and drives great but currently after a short run on the freeway then take the exit wait at the lights, then take of gradually theres a bit of hesitation but then comes good and runs great again. If i accelerate hard off the lights it dies picks up and dies again eventually coming good. It has got new plugs coil and leads I have checked for vacuum leaks, nothing. I have also rest the ECU and reset the TPS after putting in a new TPS. The fuel pump is less than a year old and given it runs ok on small trips don't think its fuel related. Any Ideas before i head to the mechanics. Cheers |

Hi waymax, have you checked your inlet manifold bolts are tight & the gasket is in good nick. Also how old is your fuel filter, has that been replaced recently?
cheers, Maka

Hi Maka,
Thanks for the reply it has a new inlet manifold gasket, fuel filter was replaced 10000km ago. I forgot to add that I have changed the motor put in a series 2 but had to change the inlet manifold over as the series 1 has different TPS and TMAP sensor and plugs hence the new inlet manifold gasket. I was however running the series 2 ignition system with different leads, coil the ECU didnt like the TPS but it didnt have the hesitation so it could be the leads and or coil. its got me stuffed |

Hi waymax, hmm, i think you may need to scan the ecu for dtc"s. Ring around for best price or get yourself a elm 327 & forscan (computer program) & see if you can do the scan yourself. At least that way theres no guessing or replacing good parts for no reason.
Theres plenty of info if you do a AFF search, keyword is "elm 327", good luck! Cheers, Maka

After some googling, i found a thread mentioning roughly the same symptoms as yours, check the crank angle sensor & in particular the wiring to it. Check for shorts from broken wiring insulation etc.
A new petrol cap can help with the fuel tank breathing issues, not very expensive, good luck! cheers, Maka
