Exclamation Great Wall Interested in Buying Jeep..

"Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor Co.
told Automotive News it is interested in buying the Jeep brand and has reached out to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to see whether a deal can be negotiated.

The move would slice Jeep from the rest of FCA's brands, leaving question marks over the future of Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram. FCA already said it would consider splitting Alfa Romeo and Maserati into their own company.?
Great Wall President Wang Fengying, listed by Fortune as the seventh most powerful woman in Asia, wrote in an email to Automotive News that Great Wall intends to buy Jeep and is "connecting with FCA" to begin negotiations."

What a great idea, not satisfied with building individual pieces of junk, together these two companies can combine and become the undisputed leadership team in automotive POS manufacturing on a global scale.

Jeep has a longer warranty than Ford.
Jeep hasn't been sued by ACCC like Ford has.

I have had 2 Jeeps and a Chrysler and only the Chrysler had some issues once it got to about 7 years old.
I know someone who has had 2 Great Walls, he said the first one had a lot of little issues, newer one has been faultless for that past 4 years. Although the paint looks older than it should at 4 years old.

They can have a 20 year warranty which is not much good if they wont fix it. And if they do happen to fix it you can sign a gag order to stop you sharing your experience with the rest of the world this is why their sales are in the gutter.

Fix what Dunga? every article I've read about recent faulty Jeeps, the customer has been uncompromising.
Ford however are the one that wont (or cant) Fix Faulty transmissions.

I find it quite rich anybody on this forum can have a dig at Jeeps of today.

Doesn't matter how careful we are I think the Chinese will own the world any way.If the Chinese were to call in the debt that the USA owe they would own America because the Yanks can't affford to pay,and every day their ability to pay gets less and less.

^^^ Just print more USD's and pay off the Chinese with container loads of ever diminishing "worthless" paper currency.

The Chinese are feeling the hurt along with everyone else... there will be no winners in the game that China and the USA are currently playing.

So who's the stupid one in that equation?
How exactly do you propose that China "call in the debt"?
It also makes their threats laughable. USA would love them to trigger a war over Taiwan or the Spratleys.

The USD is like Gold. Its intrinsically worthless, but people want to keep investing in it.

NB: The problem with China is not that they own trillions in US Paper, its that they keep cashing it in to buy up things.

And again, there's many parts of Australia that salivate at the thought of a Chinese attack against US interests. You just don't want to be caught holding Sydney Real-Estate if that happens.

Only the polticos will go for war. The common people have made it clear NO MORE WAR, If the politicos want war, they will be out in 2018.

If Great Wall can improve their range by buying Jeep, good for them. Ford did the same by purchasing Jaguar (just one of a few) a while back, car manufacturers have been doing it for years.

Truth be told, most countries steal IP, even the US unfortunately (hello Callaway, Odysee, Fisher for example), trust me i know...Contracts, NDA's mean nothing if the IP is worth appropriating &, the country of origins IP laws are relatively crap like ours. Food for thought lol..

cheers, Maka

You keep saying the same thing, and the answer is still the same:
When was the last time a war was started by "the common people"?
Besides, Americans love War, provided nobody they know gets killed. Especially when they get to play the innocent victim.
And the whole point is that its never going to happen. If China was ever stupid enough to attack US interests or Allies. USA gets to freeze/ confiscate/ cancel all their investments.
Then China's economy, which is built on importing raw materials and exporting goods by SEA, would grind to a halt.

I keep saying it because there is a different mindset these days. The politicos know NOW if they go to war, THEY WILL BE OUT on the next election cycle.

The only way war will be supported is if we are attacked.

Look, I'll be honest, I am from a family of US Army Air Force Bomber pilots, US Navy and USMC snipers. Yet I tell you every one here will remove everyone from office if there is a decision to go to war without an attack on us first.

The only place a price like that will appear is the invoice from a Panel shop. where insurance is covering it anyway. It can be any car not Jeep specific.

Are Ford any better?
I once rented a Focus with the stuffed transmission, it was the worst car I have driven in my life. I had to take it back to the rental place within 24 hours because it was so bad to drive. How long has Ford been shrugging off people with this issue.
