Thanks for that vid.

I think he confused a couple minor details between the first ZL1 and ZR1 dates and I think that happened somewhere along the line in the publication world.

The first ZL1 Corvette was produced in 1969 and was very similar to the L88, with the major differences being the L88 had an iron block and the ZL1 had the Reynolds Alloy block.

The ZL1 had a special block that came from the factory with identical 4.250" bore and 3.760" stroke as all other 427 Rat motors of the era, but instead of the typical +030 or +060 overbore capability, could go to 4.440" total bore. This is the block many racers used in Can-Am racing during the big block era. Team McLaren used in 430cid form by combining the 4.440" bore with a 3.480" stroke during the 1969 season.

Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins used the same bore x stroke combination with the ZL1 block during the 1969 NHRA Pro Stock season and won the title that year.

The ZR1 on the other hand was an upgrade to the LT1 with came out in 1970. For the ZR1 to be an upgrade to the LT1, which came out in 1970, I am scratching my head about the ZR1 being available as a 1969 model. ?

Then also, another item wasn't right. The 1970 ZR1 Corvette was available as a convertible, a real soft top as opposed to a T top coupe.

For all their 60s muscle car wins..GM cannot get much right in the modern day. Clean up the tacky crap and that maybe all right.

But GM’s offerings are definitely tackier. Same goes for their Australian counterparts. HSV’s have always looked like boy racer junk.

I don’t think he was denying it’s performance. It clearly goes good, but just looks **** while doing it.

5500cc for n/a engines
4000cc for turbo
No provision for mechanically supercharged yet.

Tyres for use on a wet track are not restricted in number. However, the allowance for dry weather tyres is 32 for the practice and qualifying sessions and 60 for the race. This rule applies to both LM GTE Pro and Am.

Actually I think GM have done alright with Corvette C6 and 7. Arguably the best they have ever offered with the range.
Same with Caddy, CTS-V is a bit of a beast.

I think it looks pretty awesome. But I also like the GT-R which plenty don't.

2019 Corvette ZR1 Goes 10.12 at 135 MPH Right From the Factory

We all knew the 2019 Corvette ZR1 was going to be fast. With 755 horsepower pumping out of its 6.2-liter V8, there was no way it could be anything else. But what we were not prepared for was just how fast it is in a straight line. After all, the latest ZR1 is clearly a corner carver destined for HPDE events and road courses right off the assembly line, but relegating it to just turning duties would appear, at this point, to be a miscalculation.

We ran across this particular ZR1 while cruising the forums over at CorvetteForum.com. User “wfarmer.z” — who we assume is associated with the Rick Hendrick Chevrolet dealership in Richmond, Virginia judging by his message— posted up not just a time slip, but multiple videos of the new ZR1 going almost 9s at Richmond Dragway. That’s right, we said almost 9s.

While the car is bone stock from stem to stern, the guys did slap a set of drag radials on the rear to give the car the bite it needed to translate all of those ponies to the pavement.

Though that might not be “bone stock”, the fact that the ZR1 is this fast with just a tire change is a testament to the massive amount of power oozing from its LT5. Clearly, any car making more than 670 horsepower at the rear wheels is going to have a hard time hooking on anything but a radial (or slick, dependent on the setup). As you can see on the time slip, the DA was a very acceptable +450 feet and the runs were accomplished earlier in the morning with temperatures hovering between 64-69 degrees.

With slightly better weather, this pass could have easily been in the 9s and we’re sure it won’t be long before we see one crack that barrier. However, that’s not to detract from the already amazing feat that is running low-10s right off the showroom floor. Chevrolet has already announced the stock ZR1 figures, setting the benchmarks at 2.85 seconds for 0-60 mph and 10.6 for the quarter-mile on factory rubber. This would suggest that a drag radial alone is worth almost half a second on the ZR1.

So, the next time one of your buddies says that the ZR1 was only designed to turn, give them an eyeful of this. Before you know it, the ZR1 is going to be gapping Demons and beating Porsche around the Nurburgring/Circuit of the Americas/any other track in the world.

This was old news, the Ford guys had limited time at the track with the GT and gave
a pro driver who just happened to be there on other business a handful of laps in the car,
Chevrolet development engineers had been at the track for weeks and just had to go out
and ace the GT's time.

Stunning effort by the Corvette but the GT still had more in it, maybe they were
under instructions not to break it...Remember, the GM is on a mission to beat everything

Corvette also has over 100hp more than the Ford GT
