Hugely recent. Mine is only 3 weeks old and my VIN ends in JX158*** whereas the affected cars start from JX160***. Would imagine many of these affected cars would still be either in transit in new stock out the back of dealers.

I’ll still get them to check though during its first run in service.

Supplier issue on steering column shaft welds.

Interesting to see if this will be whole column module out, my bet is Ford will
check every one of them very closely and try to get all of them cleared if possible.
Maybe they can access the welds on the lower end of the stering column.....

As opposed to the backwaters of AU assembling cars for 30+ years and still couldn't get it right.

Cars are a complex machine, there is always some risk of a fault or assembly issue. The manufacturer can only improve upon it and ensure it is not repeated. As others have stated this issue is very recent and likely to do more with the supplier.

Only one month's worth of stock, so less than 3,000 vehicle.

Its only on the intermediate shaft that goes between the column and the rack, not the column itself as such. So replacement if necessary is only the intermediate shaft.

Terrible c0ck up from the new area of global ute production and we are very fast indeed to point the finger back at local production.

Your virtue has been signaled gentlemen and it is very high indeed.

Is anyone doing QC there?
