Default Bigger Brakes

Hey All,

Yet another thread about brakes, I am looking for a bigger set of brakes for the AU II XR6 I found these on Ebay, would they fit?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-BA-FALCO...QQcmdZViewItem

If it will work, I will be looking at doing a doco on how to fit them up.

Cheers

Yep, they will fit so long as you have 17" rims.

The look to be the same as the BF XR6T/Territory standard calipers.

If that's what they are, then FTG have the same kit less braided lines a fair bit cheaper, and Hightek Brakes in VIC have the same kit with pads and lines for under 1k.

Yer I have 18" rims so that shouldn't be a problem, so I wont need any adaptors\extra parts to make them fit? they should go straight on?

Found the hightek upgrade kit

http://www.hightekbrakes.com.au/upgrades.html

Looks very good, I would go for the DBA 4000 series rotors I think.

I've heard a few good things about Hightek, and they're quite reasonably priced too. Having said that I've called them twice and now emailed, and still haven't heard a word back from them...

I've had similar experiences with some of the companies that sell the kits for 3 times that price. But its there loss, as if a company takes more then 3 working days to reply (even just to advise receipt of my inquiry and estimated time to reply) I reffuse to deal with them.

Generally I wouldn't chase them either - it's just that they've done the conversion before (Territory into AU) and they're very local. Most brake places I call up have never done it before and say they'll need to stuff around for a while working it out, and I don't want to be anyone's guinea pig.

If you have a series 2/3 its more or less a straight swap

Yeah I know, but most brake places I've spoken to um and ahh about it and then want to charge extra for the research/stuffing around time - at least these guys are 100% on everything - just if I could get the idiots to call me back!

Yer the swap over should be pretty easy, by the looks of things the kit has everything you need to swap over the brakes.

Just one final question before I go and buy the bigger brakes, will they work with the current ABS system on my XR6 II?

Uses the existing calipers, which is the primary reason for upgrading to XR8/Terri brakes in the first place.

Yes. I have a Territory, and BF XR6T, BF XR8 and Terry brakes are all the same - the kids thought it was great that I was fitting XR8 brakes to "mum's truck".
