I saw this on FB. What a joke. People need to get offended by real problems in Australia and not be so dam soft.

I still don't understand what's even offensive about it.
Not greatly surprised though. |

Signed.
As I understand it, Vicroads needs to receive 3 written complaints from the public about a number plate before it is deemed "offensive" and then request the plates be handed in and cancelled. Signing an online petition is not going to do jack. Write a letter to Vicroads HQ and something may happen. It only takes 3 letters to remove a plate. How many letters will it take to re-instate a plate? Last edited by Tickford.; 22-06-2020 at 06:23 PM. |

Not snowflakes, but bunch of assholes have been empowered to make ambient claims about any contrived issue. Victoria seems to be the epicentre of this type of behaviour!

ALL Victoria and Queensland plates are offensive according to the BLM cancel culture mob.

How stupid is vic roads, I could take offence to some of the street names, suburbs and towns, what are they going to do change them too, what a bunch of dim witted morons we have making rules for us, what are they that bored at vicroads they have nothing better to do than take a number plate off someone, even though in the English language it says nothing, WEPN could mean anything, could be the abbreviation of a business name.
Pretty sure a good lawyer would sort this out in a couple of hours. I signed the petition vic road morons |

If only we could get a record of these authorities number plates so we could keep sending in 3 letters of complaint saying we find them offensive.
They would have to change their plates every week.

I am trying to find it now (with no success yet but I will keep looking) but I seem to recall some research some years ago, I think in the UK, that showed a link between personalised number plates with script that seemed to ''encourage dangerous driving, speeding and/or drink driving'' and related driving offences and, if so, this might be the rational for this decision. Perhaps if this is the case it is also justified although perhaps the "chicken and egg" situation does arise.

I think the (NSW) RTA got it right when they first brought them out. I believe they were then called 'Vanity Plates'.

And I'm inclined to agree with this opinion (below in quotes) as I find myself often using the W adjective to personal plate drivers who more often seem to be more the aggressive/ hooning/ tailgating/ and/or lane switching drivers. But that's probably why they and their ego chose the personalised plates rather than the plates influencing their behaviour. Yes there are some perfectly well behaved drivers with personalised plates but there does seem from my casual observation to be more bad drivers that have personalised plates. Still half as bad as the old Ute driver who followed me a few inches from my bumper while I maintained the speed limit the other day with "U Are The C**T" printed in reverse on his bonnet, and on another occasion I saw him switch at the last minute from the right lane to take a left lane exit he'd already passed on the Roe Freeway cutting across the painted island and forcing to cars to brake heavily. A road rage issue just waiting to happen.

Not sure if it's Urban Legend or true ......
After a bit of time and a number of people at the Rego place, wondering why someone would want and pay for an innocuous Personalised Plate. They refused. Plate : 6ULDV8 |

An acquaintance has a far more risque plate to do with pursuits of the flesh, he’s amazed it hasn’t been recalled.
Would the snowflakes be offended by “WLM2”? |

Should the owner (Vic roads / RMS etc) want them back they can break the lease and take back the plates they own at any time. It is disgusting that they have been removed. It should be put to public opinion before a couple of complaints are seriously entertained. 2-3 complaints will get it removed, I bet 10,000 votes for it to be reinstated will fall on deaf ears. What a bloody joke... Sent from my LG-M700 using Tapatalk

I must have lived a very sheltered life as I have to admit to not "getting" many of the plates suggested in here.
Did hear a story a while ago about a plate someone had gotten away with for a long time that seemed inoffensive enough when viewed the right-way-around but was quite different when viewed in reverse through rear-view mirror...but frustratingly cannot recall what it was |
