Silly question, but why didn't he go to 6th? No load, flat road? Lots of comments about not shifting up but I wouldn't mind knowing why.

Cause he was still at least 500 rpm short of the redline. And 6th would be an overdriven gear, so max speed would be in 5th. Would probably have slowed in 6th.

It must be nice to live in a country where people check their mirrors and stay out of the fast lane

I’ve lost count of how many times i’ve had some moron switch lanes in front of me when i’m going 100, and they are trying to get past a truck struggling up a hill and i have to jump on the brakes to avoid ramming into them. Do these people even realise the speed differential in these situations makes it quite dangerous? Clearly not |

Interesting point, but which state actually has a dedicated fast lane? Yet to see where any lane (roadworks exempt) where one lane is a lower limit in Australia like on the Autobahn.

It's to rub salt into the wound of those who live in countries with draconian speed limits and strict enforcement. It's basically saying "Look, the Nazi's have left Germany and now control your respective Parliaments!"

Must be a strange world for people who remember four cylinder cars from the 1970s to see them now pull speeds like 240km/h. |

Thought it a little odd how this limitless speed limit is allowed with only 2 lanes. I would image it safer with aleast 3 or 4 lanes, with the 2 outer being the limitless ones.
All the training in the world couldn't prepare someone pulling out to pass a slower moving car/truck for instance with the speed difference of that Bentley.

It would probably be safer with 3-4 lanes, but I would assume the derestricted roads are the quieter roads with very few bends and hills. I was supposed to be over there a few months ago. Thanks Covid. |
