Hi, As above ive got a cracked mirror on my Lefthand rear-view mirror.
ive got a spare mirror assembly but i cant figure out how to remove the mirror from it. The spare has been ripped off (not by me!) and the bit that connects to the bracket is damaged. how to you pull apart these mirror assemblys? Im hoping they arent a "replacement only" item... THanks, John |

I bought a replacement mirror from e-bay for about $50. It is new but not genuine though sure beats the $220 Ford are asking.

The housing is made of a thermo-setting plastic. So if you break the broken mirror glass from the housing, sit the new glass so it is captured under one side of the lip, then with a thin putty knife and a hair driyer carefully heat the plastic and ease the glass under the remaining three sides of the lip. When I put the new mirror in place I also put a couple of dobs of good old silastic - just to make sure... Sounds difficult but patience is the key...
