Default TL50 bodykit

Hi Guys,

I polished the front bar of my fairlane on Sunday, only to find that it is full of stone chips. Im not talking about a few, im talking about hundreds just on the front bar!

Along with this, the sills under the closed door are wearing down to undercoat, which is kind of strange because the back is rarely used. Im putting it down to a very bad paint inconsistency because there is quite a few problems with the paint on this car :(

Anyway, in light of this, i have decided that rather than paint these again, i might aswell get a TL50 bodykit installed. This is a replacement front bar and just addon sideskirts i believe.

Does anyone know where i could get one of these? I have looked at AWC, but they only do a spoiler for AU Fairlanes. Any suggestions would be great guys

-Michael

Ford.... expect it to be around $1500 just for the bar. That's if they even have one. They only made about 60 all up.

The original TE/TS50 bars were made by C2R. At a guess, i would say they made the TL50 bars etc too. Why not contact them and find out?

! Thanks for the quick replys guys

I will contact C2R and get a quote on it. I would however be happy with a copy if the quality was OK. Im not that keen on a body kit that is going to cost the earth...

I was wandering through a local dodgy dealer last weekend, only to come accross a T1 TL50 in black! Would have traded my fairlane in on it in a second were it not in a really bad condition and held at a really dodgy dealer. Thought it's body kit looked really good but subtle at the same time

IIRC about 99% of the TL Catalog is ONR and therefore NLA.

What is ONR? I understand NLA. Bloody TLAs.

Thanks B2F - makes sense now! So C2r MIGHT be the only place that would even have the moulds - if they built them in the first place, of course.

C2R is just the marketing front for a few of their kits. You won't get OEM stuff from C2R. Best to directly contact UP Tooling.

Sorry to put the kybosh on things folks but UP Tooling sold C2R a few months ago and the comapny that bought them out is going through the process of moving tooling to their new plant. It may be possible that UPT may have a few left over in stock however i doubt that as most would have been made as needed.

I have been in touch with the new owners and they say that its still a few weeks away before they are in full production of any of the kits.

Thanks for that info XRQTR. I will probably wait a few weeks before contacting them then. No rush on it at all.

This may explain why C2R's website has been down since i started this thread...

LWB Interior will go into a SWB Interior. Front Door trims are no problem. Rear Door trims, need some nuts, so the bolts can hold onto the door frame (and also you'd need power windows).

Front Seats will bolt up. (Not too sure on power seat). Rear Seats will bolt up, with some small drilling, and you have to use your original side bolsters. So you'd strip the leather from the Fairlane interior, and stich it up to your bolsters.

Numbers are of production and sold. All FTe T-series vehicles were built to order, unlike the current FPV range, which are mass produced.

LG - the material on the side bolsters sort of fits over the bolsters and clips in place - would the LWB bolster covers fit, or are they a completely different shape?
