Default Spare Wires In The Door

Hey guys, I have a '98 Fairmont, pulled the Window control panel out of the drivers door to replace some globes in there and found underneath a spare plug. It has two wires that look like courtesy light wiring. I havent tested this yet but thought i would ask, did the Fairmont Ghias have lights on the doors themsleves like the EF/EL down the bottom Right corner that you can see when it is open or what are they for???

Thanks Guys

Is that a plug with a green and a black wire? I've often wondered what it was for. Would be interesting to see what the answer is.

I found a wiring diagram (thanks to Russ) which shows the Door courtesy lamps have a black/blue wire and a green/yellow wire. Diagram is here:

I found these on the AU Parts database. I assume they are the right ones, but you would need to check with Ford to make sure - price is only indicative as the prices are a couple of years old.

AU 13777 A6 LAMP COURTESY DR, REPLACEMENT BULB : ELB 504, GHIA, WARM CHARCOAL $20.70

And the door trim part numbers complete with hole (though it may be cheaper to buy a stanley knife and make your own hole)
AU F23756 A1 INSERT DR TRIM RH, FRONT - MED GRAPHITE - CARPET, LESS HOLE FOR COURTESY LAMP, FAIRMONT $17.92
AU F23756 B1 INSERT DR TRIM RH, FRONT - MED GRAPHITE - CARPET, WITH CUT-OUT FOR COURTESY LAMP, GHIA $17.92

Lights that say please and thankyou. No, that would be courteous lights.

They light up when you open the car door. The interior light and boot light are both courtesy lights.
