Hello fellow AU owners.
I have an AU2 XR8 and was thinking about at 18'" alloys. I want to know what it will look like with standard suspension and the 18's. The XR8 Rebel had 18's (I think), was the suspension still the same ride height as the standard XR8's? or was it lower to match the lower profile tyre? Can someone answer this and post some pic's of a standard XR8 suspension setup with 18's to give me an idea. I don't want to get 18's then think it looks like it needs to be lowered because of the lower profile tyres. Cheers. |

Far as I know only the T Series cars had 18" standard rims. Might be wrong but I cant think of any XR8 package in the AU's that had 18's.

The Rebel AU2 had 18's.. They were the speedline wheels the same as one of the T1's had.

Cheers for the replys all.
Stampy - nice ride. Lowered right - down from the Rebel height? I think the Rebel package was the first to have the 220kw motor in an XR, before it became mainstream? correct? One more thing stampy, if your Rebel has been lowered, do you have a photo of it at standard height with the 18's and do you know if this is the same as regular XR8s. Cheers |

Yep.. the only AU XR8's to have 18's from factory were the AU2 Rebel and AU3 XR8 Pursuit utes. The rims fitted to the AU2 XR8 Rebel (as above pic's) were factory fitted to AU1 TS50 / TL50, and AU2 TS50 / TL50.
Stampy.. nice ride!! Lowering is a defenite must.. doesn't matter what size rims you got. AU's look sooo much better lowered.

Did they still call it the Rebel Kit for the AUIII?
So for example, BD's is a AUIII XR8, with the factory Rebel Kit fitted? But it is not a Rebel. So only the AUII XR8 220, that we're optioned with the Rebel kit, we're called Rebels?

Silly me I know that ,What I meant is an AUIII XR8 Could be optioned up with the same accessories , but would still not be a Rebel Is that a bit clearer And the only way you will ever know if it's an original is look at the Original bill of sale , It's a easy car to make a copy of.. |

Casper 1/4 mile doesn't interest me at all, I have never gone to the drags here and don't plan to. In saying that I'm sure there's enough 8's down there for you to challenge, I would like to see a match up with similar mods to yours to make it a fair comparison.
