Can any one tell me where i can get a good quality white background for my guage cluster for an AU forte S1 ??? i did buy one from a company i saw on e-bay, it lasted 4 months before bubbling up in the sun. fun experience, ever tried to drive home when your speedo only gets to 40KMs

Yeah I got the bay $70 ones as well.. they where terrible. I ended up spending so much time trying to fix them i ИИИИed my cluster and replaced it with an xr one. I just purchased some on ebay for $190 freakin expensive but they are the proper metal ones but there seem to be on au2/3 xr ones for sale on there atm. After the amount of time with the crappy ebay ones I was willing to pay for a decent real set.

Also don't use blue leds = no needles at night.

http://www.burgdesign.com.au/catalog...roducts_id=840
I beleive these are the proper emtech designed ones for the au1 falcon. Those ebay ones where at home jobs made from cheap plastic and poorly done. The emtech ones are made of much stronger material like a kind of thin metal i think and thus wont warp when they heat up.

I was gonna try this too, cant find a decent white cluster yet, but surely there'd be some model of late falcon with white needles. Thats all you'd need to make blue needles at night...

You cant make an AUI Cluster, have white needles, as they are a solid orange.

AUII-III Clusters, have a white needle, with an orange film/tint over it. If you get a cotton bud, with some turps, or a sharp knife. You can scrape the orange off.

Otherwise, you gotta have orange needles.

AU1 and AUII have different layouts with regards to a few of the warning lights. I tried to use Series I black XR dials to replalce my Series II blue XR ones, but they were not compatible.

Well guess the old orange needles will be disappearing on the weekend then..
I guess if I took the film off them they would then light up white. Might be just as easy to do that then add blue LED's

Problem I have seen with Blue LED's is that they are bright in one place and then dull in other places. How do you combat this and get an even display as above?

I thought it was the other way around. You can shave back the AU1 needles so they light up blue but you can't shave back the au2/3 needles because the entire needle is red.

Try some liquid paper on the very tip of the led thus spreads the light out instead of infront, I did that with my blue led on the clock a worked out awesome.

Tried scraping the orange needle but only got a bit of light through it, doesn't bother me as I can see the needle pretty good though the rest of the dash.

What every happened to that paint that used to glow in the dark. Use to paint models with it. Maybe you could use some of that on the needles

right so no one can help me... haha, those burgdesign ones look interestingly close to the one i purchased on ebay. perhaps they are made of better material, who knows. $140 is alot but, plus postage. How much is it to IF POSSIBLE swap my entire cluster for a XR cluster, and is it difficult or does it plug in?

Ah its preety easy to swap just i think 3 wires need to be moved over to the other plug. The only problem is the whole km issue.

I just got my white dials in the mail today from ebay. They are actually silver not white but are dam good quality. They have glue on the back and are done by a machine so only the actual dials are white not the other sections with icons (they stay black). Im off to put them in now lets hope something doesn't farrk up!

Well iv put mine in now and all is fine. They are silver rather then white but look white on an angle. They light up blue as well! So no need for blue leds, the needles still light up red by all the rest of it blue

Its a bit duller at night compared to my old white cluster lights. I still have just normal bulbs in there no leds or nothing. Its bright enough and looks alot better more like ba xr style.

I think because the guy who makes them tinted them blue. So keep current bulbs but it appear blue. Duffman is that the case and is it made of plastic?

Yeah its made of exactly the same stuff the factory one is made of with the glue in all the same places its very very good quality. I got a pic of my old ebay one and it kills it quality wise. It lights up blue as the plastic behind the numbers is blue. Yet when you turn the dials over it looks no different to the stock ones yet im guessing there is just a small blue film along the back of it.

Its more silver then white but appears very white on angels. Overall I think it was definatly worth it and it looks alot better having all the small icon's left black like factor so all you see is the dials that are white much cleaner looking.

Duffman, do you have the details for exactly who you bought the fascia cover off? I have an AU1 Fairmont and am after the white dials. A lot of the ones I've seen on ebay don't have the tickford wings on them, but I noticed yours do, which is what I'm after. Cheers mate, Matt.
