Talking I Knew it!

Heres a little story if anyones bored...

After spending a good $600+ on getting my car serviced and tuned on two occasions through a family friend mechanic i thought my car was still running a bit sluggish and wasn't all it could be, so I decided to do as much research i could into how a 2litre pinto should run and the more i read the more dissapointed i was with the performance of my car. Don't get me wrong, once the car got its groove on it went awesome but especially when changing up gears and in low revs the car was very unresponsive which to me felt like it was running very rich and sluggish.

Here i am at a cross-road, consider upgrading to a "more reliable" efi skyline turbo which is almost guaranteed to be fast and put a smile on my face or risk spending more to get the eski running right....decisions decisions.

One last chance, went to Racetune here in Perth and just said 'Here's my car, just make it run right'

Came back in the afternoon (today) and oh my god does the car run WIKID!!!!

Screw upgrading to a skyline was the first thing i said, i have found a new love for my escort. Racetune messed around with a few things like mixtures and the distributor etc. The car is just so responsive now and feels a good 2 times faster. This is the best part now, all up came to $49!!!

I honestly can't wait to get a new manifold and some twin side-draughts for my car now, and i know exactly where i will be taking it to have it tuned... RACETUNE!

PS: Sorry to anyone who i said i was CONSIDERING selling my car, I am definately keeping it now :

There are a lot of mechanic who "think" they know what they are doing but rely in computers and instrument to tell them what to do.
I have never trusted my own spannering on my RS2000 until last year when I replaced the engine and gearbox myself. I had no one to help me other than a workshop manual and a couple of phone calls to the guy who built the engine. I got the engine in and despite not doing a thing to it while it was out of the donar car, it ran like tte.
So, I got a mechanic mate (who used to rally Escorts, no doubt) around to look at it and he played around with the timing, adjusted the tappets, tighten the inlet manifold and complained that the carby was stuffed and need rebuilding.
The result was $300 and still tte performance....I thought this wasn't right, so I went back to basics are tried to solve it logically by process of elimination. Within 40 minutes I had it running better than it was in the donar car with the so called "Krapp" carby, then I switched to a 40mm DFAV weber and its back to smoking "common-hores" like normal.
Never under-estimate your own abillities and if in doubt, take it to someone who knows what they are doing, not someone who says he does.

Cheers and remamber any Nissan is step down from a Ford. :sm_headba
