(This is Rmyers logged in on thanatos' comp)
Well after three weeks at Dynomotive, they finally came up with a tensioner design that works on my car It was worth the wait, and i'm finally getting close to the 200rwkw figure that i was aiming for, and is currently pulling 188.3rwkw With a little more work (ie cam, headwork, haltech etc) i should finally crack 200. The power delivery is much smoother now, and definately has more grunt to it. The transmission cooler was also fitted, and later on i will be getting dynomotive to fit a proper mechanical shift kit rather than the electronic style which mark told me doesn't really do anything to prolong the life of the tranny... Here's a pic of the dyno graph |

That graph looks nice and smooooth. Well done mate. Now machine the pully down to 25mm and booooooooooost it (well untill the internal belt dies)
Looks like it will move once on the road. Also, whats the mechanical shift kit mod?

Rear wheel torque = flywheel torque * Torque converter multiplication * gearbox ratio * diff ratio / Wheel radius.

Basically torque is multiplied by the gears.
Good to see it's coming together Steve. |

My guess is it will be either commy S5 or AU one where the solonoid is adjustable.
I bet your happy to finally have some decent power. Im gonna have to do something about it getting more than me though

OK - there is no such thing as an adjustable S5 solenoid.
I think the AU one handles being adjusted hence does not die as quickly as the older S5's, but they are not adjustable.

Are the commy ones adjustable then? I have been told I can change that solonoid to one that is adjustable.
What are people talking about when they say to just put in the AU solonoid to up the line pressure?

I dont know, but I am told that the AU ones are no different physically to the older ones, apart from the fact they are cheaper to source, there is no difference.
Anyone care to explain just why they are called 'adjustable'

you can get a 'mechanical' shift kit for the 4spd autos, just like the old school B&M shift kits you can get for C4 tran's. theres an Auto shop near my place that fits them and services the trans for $240, and i've heard good things about them. they don't harm the trans like the 'electronic' ones etc.
that reminds me, i really should go pick up my EF from down there lol.... |

Well that means the BA shifter setup I have is really no different to the mechanical shift then, the solenoids are set to the correct gear until I change, no different to holding it in first, then changing gears.

shift kits are usually associated with harder shifting, instead of a stock trans taking say .8 of a second to change gears it take .5 of a second or so to change gears. thats just an example. but with a shift kit holding it in gear and then gearing up it will respond to your change more quickly thus shifting straight away.

shift kit seems to have done the job, at WOT it shifts smooth, but part throttle u can feel it.
still has issues somewhere though, random gear changes :P

Random gear changes are awesome! I get them too but hopefully going back to a 3 speed will fix it. Well, it will definately fix it and maybe even let me launch on boost too!
