Dont hold your breath waiting for Blob Jane, help us get our track up and running in the Riverland. A proper A grade track, long enough to enable a full power pass by a top fueller (not like AIR) and it doesnt run into the setting sun like AIR does.
check out www.riverlandmotorsportclub.com.au and see what we have been doing to make this happen very soon.

If you want to get more confused, South Australia used to be the largest state in Oz before it gave the NT to the Commonwealth, so the NT used to be S.A. and it was still called South Australia all the way up to Darwin.

It's about 2-3 hours drive from the CBD. Depending on which side of the city you are, you might have to add a bit of time.
The Riverland is about 200-300kms away.

To the OP, can't go past the Barossa Valley where I live! One of the best wine regions in the world, only 1 hour from the city! I work in the city and it is reasonably easy to get there via public transport. Takes me 20 minutes to drive to the train station, and then 40 minutes on the train.
Adelaide is great. I certainly wouldn't move to Melbourne or Sydney to work. Too much stress on the roads. No roadworthy checks here either. Probably explains why we have the oldest fleet of cars on the road.

Yeah, mandatory up until the age of 17. Lol.

It's a great city, but i certainly understand that it's not for everyone. Whilst our fair city's obvious flaws include the lower salaries, awful tap water, sub par public transport system etc etc, the benefits far outweigh the downside. It's just such an easy place to live.

For example, i live in one of the nicer areas in Adelaide - i often leave the house unlocked when i pop out, leave cars unlocked etc. It's about as far east as you can go before hitting the hills. 3br house with a block big enough to fit a few cars that are in need of repairs or supercharging, takes me 15 minutes to drive to work on a good day, 30 on a bad day - and only costs $250/wk (just dont ask about buying lol).

I used to live in the sticks, out the back of the adelaide hills and even that was a 40 minute drive on a good day, 1 hour on a bad.

Traffic is shocking at 8am/5pm, our roads dont deal well with heavy traffic - but stay in the city until 6pm and you'll be the first car at every traffic light.

Night life is apparently bland, but i dont go to clubs so it doesnt bother me. Plenty of good pubs and bars around, who the hell wants to dress up when it's 30 degrees at midnight anyway. If you look hard enough you might even find a little gem tucked away that plays live music and.... doesnt have pokies. Pale Ale on tap at pretty much any building within 100 yards of a liquor license.

Certainly no shortage of options for the latte crowd either. Rundle St, Parade Norwood, North Adelaide, King William Rd, Unley Rd etc etc

Clipsal 500. Play your cards right and you'll be kicking back at a private house or club in the east end of the city whilst lowndes and co fling past the front door at 200 km/hr.

Probably the most AFLish state after Vic, altho i dont see that as a good point lol. NRL fans - hope you have pay tv.

Festival of the arts, fringe etc.

I guess you love it or hate it. If you live and breathe a sydney lifestyle then it's probably not for you - we actually like to spend a bit of time at home during the working week!

2pm Afternoon Tea consisting of cucumber sandwiches and lemonade
3pm Tennis with the Dark Lord
4pm Nap
5pm Eat dinner with stuffed animal friends
6pm Give Fiery sermon to stuffed animals from Pulpit made from lounge suite cushions
7pm Watch reruns of the Dark Lords Magnum PI
8pm Walk the earth in search of victims, while walking the neighbours poodle "Princess Fluffy the First"

SA is great. I've lived in Amsterdam for 20 years. The serenity and laidback calmness here is what I've always desired. She'll be right.
What's wrong with our nightlife? All you need is alcohol, music & chicks and we've got plenty of that!

Actually, it should be mentioned that South Australia did have the highest murder rate per capita there for a while. We've since dropped down the order a few spots though.

Things to do, all in about an hours drive from the CDB:
Water skiing/water sports on the Murray river (until it dries out. Just don't go swimming in there!)
Wine tasting in two different wine regions (McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley)
Beaches - many can easily be reached in an hour, some in as little as 15 minutes.

Things in the city during the year:
Clipsal 500
Womadelaide
Fringe Festival

Other people can probably expand this list as well.

If you have good job prospects, go for it. Very liveable place. Melbourne is my second home with frequent visits to family/friends and I love Melbourne to death, but it is getting pretty unmanagable, tollways, traffic etc. Adelaide local coast from city to south is stunning, hills are stunning and all within 20 mins of CBD good roads everywhere. Living is quiet, but good quality, clean and hassle-free. The way I look at it is when I want a top up of action, I go to Melb or Sydney for a week, live it up and come home for a rest.

South Australia is a nice part of this big brown land we call home, just steer clear of Adelaide, I think a nuclear waste truck spilled its contents there some years back.

SA is ok, cheap to live, decent people, hot birds, but no drag racing.
