I went to Port Douglas for my Honeymoon and i thought it was overated and way overpriced. We went to the outer Reef on the Quicksilver and that was great but the rest of the time it was pretty boring. Cairns is definetly a better option fo anyone who is looking at going up north. You can still go out to the reef and all that but u also have so many other options where as Port Douglas is a bit limited especially if u dont hire a car. And dont go up there in march_May as it is Monsoon Season and also Box Jelly fish tend to hang around then so u r a bit limited to where u can go swimming.
