Default EF/L Ash tray damper

Hi people, do any of your EF/L ash tray dampers actually work? I didnt even know mine was supposed to have one until i noticed that our AU ash tray opens slowly. I pulled off my own ash tray and saw that the little rotary damper on the side had leaked.

do any of yours work? Im off to the wreckers to go get one...

if you take your ashtray out, and remove that clear circle with two clips on it (the one that runs along the teeth on the side of the 'door') you will see how mine operates, it's one of those things that makes a car 'nice'. If I could find a small weak telescopic damper I would do a similar thing to my glove box.
