Yeah... dropped the 3.2l enhine.

The CFI was dropped at EB2, so it was still around with the MPFI engine.

C-pillar cover was changed in EB1

Main Changes EA1-2
BTR 4speed (and adjusted diff ratios to suit)
Body Coloured B-Pillar (rather than black)
Drop 3.2L Option
Better Trim (especially in Ghia's and Fairlanes)
Late S2's got Tibbe door locks
Also I think suspension tune was changed...
There was heaps more but I can't remember off the top of my head what exactly it was.

EA Series 1 Ghia got colour coded C-Pillars.

30th Anniversary EA series 2 got tibbe locks.

Basically series1 = 3 speed auto and series 2 = 4 speed auto.

Series 1 has a curved gearbox cross member, later ones are straight.

Windscreen wipers have different curve to them on the series 1 (the albow bends sharper on the series 1). If you put series 2 or later on a series 1, they wont wipe the screen fully, there always a section unwiped, regardless of how you bend the arm.

Series 1 have differnet rear discs to the series 2. (part numbers are different)

Steering rack ends are 14mm in S1, and 16mm in S2.

theres a few differences.

Some of them aren't too clear cut though. For example, late series 1s also got the 3rd brakelight. I think series 2 also had a different radiator to series 1. I've got a series 1 radiator and it has a blocked off return line from the coolant bottle as there is nowhere to plug it on the series 1 radiator. Still works though!

Yeah S1 only had the returnline from the Thermostat housing, didnt have it from the rad.

Neither of my S2's have a flanged diff...

I thought that was an EB thing.

fmc351,I own a Series 1 88 model and its an interesting point you bring up with the wiper arms. From memory when it had the series 1 blades it did bugga all completly missed the screen so I put the series 2 blades 8mm instead of 10mm with same arms. Now it only misses right where I want to see about a patch 10cm in diameter.I have even put those aftermarket arms on it so at speed it pushes it down, still misses.Have you had any success with the arms or blades????

I just stripped 2 EA11's, both had flanged diffs. One to donate its 4spd auto to my manual wagon, has the alloy flanged tailshaft, diff made noise so I never kept that, now i need one. Alloy tailshaft is another change from S11 EA.

The other was a mates dads, he cooked his donk, and bought a wreck to change it. That was before I needed the diff. Always the way isnt it?

If it helps, both were S's, not base models.

Not the blade section or the blade holder, the actual arm itself.

I had the issue you described. Changed arms from an EB, no different, didn't matter how I bent it, it wouldn't wipe, just wiped and left different sections, never good though.

Looked for an 88 model, got the arms, perfect. I made a comparison, the 88 ones bend more at the joint. They press firmer on the screen. Remember, I'm talking about the actual arms, not the blade sections, they're probably the same.

Check the attachment, Ive circled it in red.

Well after the post I went downstairs and started playing with the wipers.I tried turning the wiper upsidedown so the fin is at the top, still the same. Then I removed it compared it to the old one I removed and found it to be stiff in the middle I held my tongue right and bent the middle two wiper holders just enough so it was of same stiffness.Refitted it fin up,really fine mist of spary from a water bottle (we don't have rain in Queensland) and hey prestios it worked I could not believe it.I tryed bending every part of the wiper assembly before with the 8mm wiper arms and the arm itself but this actually worked for once.I was begining to think about replacing the screen it was driving me that nuts.

Im on the Sunshine Coast, we get rain.

I've fitted numerous other arms off EB and EAII's, bought aftermarket blade holder sections, nadda. And for the bending the blades and clips and holders and arms. Ive done it all. Youll be back. I could occasionally get em right for a few days, then no rain for month or so, hit the wipers, its back again. Worse still, sort of rain, road crap flicking up from other cars, hit the washers, arggggh!!! Drove me nuts too. Good luck with it.

Series one arms, and presto, never had the issue since. I hit the washers with confidence now. : Happy dance, happydance
