Arguing with a friend of mine and he reckons he'd smoke me at the strip. Now, all I know about the Statesman is that its got 220kw. I dont know what gearing its got or how heavy it is, but being a boat, it'd have to be close to 2.5 tonne I would think. My car is the EF XR6. Stock motor, 5 speed, 3.45 lsd....usual stuff. What sort of times do ya reckon the cars would pull? just want a rough idea incase he embarresses me at the strip

WH = Probably a mid to high 14
EF = Probably mid to high 15 Verdict. I think you'll get hosed.

the holden will blow your doors off. I'd be very surprised if the statesman was more than 1.8 tonne. V8's once they fire up (bout 80km/h), will anhialate a stock 6.
EDIT: there are so many of these threads lately, maybe there should be one dedicated "is mine bigger" discussion thread

Well if its anything to go by the WH Statey that we used to have could blow the doors off the EF in my sig when it was stock and would easily do so now again if we still had the statey. The V8 was a real sponge down low but once up in the revs (kicks in at over 4000rpm) it pulled hard. This was easily overcome by left foot braking in it which would lower the whole back of the car down and put it into "launch" mode. Quite a bit of fun for a luxo barge. Im pretty sure the car was around the 17xxkg mark which is pretty light for the size of the car.

yeah for all those wondering. While our I6 do go pretty well compared to a holden 6, or even there old V8. Dont even bother lining up a Gen3 or greater, there V8 is alot better than Fords old Winsdor sorry to say.
And before the V8 boys start crying, talking about stock form here, mod anything and it can go fast.

The statesman is around 1.8Ton empty, the do infact handle like a boat but the weight gets the power to the ground.
EF I6 v a V8 the fact they have nearly twice the amount of power and more torque they are pritty good. Me and my mate on our private farm road took one for a "speed trail" it just clicked into top gear at 217km/h and theres a whole gear left. Long and short of it. You will LOSE BIG TIME!!!!! : |

If it has 220kw, it should pull a low 14 down to even a high 13.
