Default The Alice

In their infinate wisdom, my higher-ups have decided to deploy me to Alice Springs for a few months.. Will be flying in on the 29th of Jan next year.

My questions were:

Is there anything on in Alice around that time? What do people DO out there? Nice place to live/visit? Any tips?

Thanks guys!

NH

Kings Canyon is only 4/5 hours away?
That would fill a day or two.

I think you've missed 'Show Day'.

6 weeks is the first instalment, then back for a few months, then who knows. I'm sure they'll give me enough notice to pack my spare set of undies and bottle of Zippo lighter fluid on the way to the airport.

I know mate - I was friggen shattered. Original plan was to take the FBT and co-ordinate my arrival with your supercruise for some high-speed shenanigans... Sadly, the NT ALP govt. and the Union Movement conspired against me!

December through to march people here tend to hibernate. It is a very social time where people get to gether and eat and drink. The rest of the year is spent doing out door stuff. Do you know where you are staying?? Where are you working?? I would be happy to show you around. The Alice is a very out door activity type of place.
You will either love it or hate it. There doesnt seem to be any in between. There is no peak hour traffic, people only have one face, there is heaps of money to be earned here, the lifestyle is laid back and easy. The place is full of some rather nice back packers all winter and lots of lovely American ladies all years round.

PM me if you want to know specifics.

Cheers.

Sounds awesome mate - I'll get in touch when I know some more details...

Two other blokes from the office will be in Darwin at the same time - Their plan seems to centre around drinking, smoking, thrashing the hire cars and trying to score with backpackers. Which all sounds good to me.

If only I knew... Found out today that my pay will stay the same, but there's a big travel allowance. Will make it worthwhile at least.
