Hey all, i'm after a set of surround sound headphones but really have no idea about them. Anyone got any experience with these? I have a pair of Sennheiser headphones already but would really like surround.
So just need a good sounding, loud, surround sound set of headphones that won't break the bank. |

Under $100* pick: Sony MDR-G74SL
Duggan calls these a great "walk around town kind of headphone," perfect if you're looking for something that suits an active lifestyle. For portable headphones, they have respectable drivers (speakers), which deliver deeper bass and are very durable. The behind-the-neck headband is perfect for people who wear hats or helmets. $100* to $200* pick: Sennheiser HD477 These are great all-purpose headphones for stereos, PCs, airplanes and more. "All of us here at the store would agree that these are the best-sounding headphones for under $200," says Duggan. This model has circumaural ear couplings, which cup the ear completely. However, they're closed (also known as sealed), which means they block a lot of external noise and cut down on the amount of sound leakage. Even without plugging them in, you can barely hear room noise when you have them on. They have a padded adjustable over-the-head band and soft ear cushions. $200* to $300* pick: Sennheiser HD595 "This is a beautiful set of headphones for the serious audiophile at home," says Duggan. He adds they're particularly good for classical and jazz music fans. This model also has circumaural ear couplings. They are open (also known as vented), which gives a more natural sound and realistic bass. One of the nicest features of this model is the velour ear cushions, which make the headphones comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They also have bigger drivers, which produce a fuller and warmer sound. "The bigger the driver," says Duggan, "the bigger the sound." * Estimated Retail Prices. Resellers' pricing may vary. Pricing as of production time and in Australian dollars. Taken from http://technology.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=102879 |

do you want true surround sound or just stereo headphones that can mimic it? i've had a pair of Zalman Theatre6 headphones for about 2-3 years now and they are awesome. 3 speakers in each ear for that true surround sound. i bought them for $60 and they still only cost that much. i used them for gaming and they work perfectly. you'll hear footsteps from about 140 degrees behind you and i guarantee you'll turn around and face what it is face to face as the sound spacing works 100%. these are THE BEST for the price and i cant recommend them highly enough. the only downsides could be they are quite large to house the 3 speakers in each ear and they could be bassier but that could be my soundcard or whatever.

Just out of curiosity, what model Sennheisers do you have? I bought the HD435 not long ago after much debating. I love them, I just wish I could lay on my side with them!!
