Its a rocker cover not rocket.

Not sure how to polish it though.

I am powder coating mine that way you can have a colour rather than just polished.

Big job if your not equipped. You have to strip whatever paint is on it, then polish away to your hearts content with a buff and compound. If you don't want hassles and down time, get a secondhand cover, professionally polish it. Then swap it over. As a bonus you could then polish the other and sell it.

i did mine myself about a month ago, definately buy a 2nd one, there fairly cheap, i picked one up for $15.
first i paint striped the paint using normal paint striper, then started sanding with 400 wet sand paper, then just work your way through the grades of wet sandpaper (400, 800, 1200, 2000, and anything in between if you like).
once sanded, buff rocker cover using a buffing machine with lambs wool and metal polish such as autosol.
Then hand polish until satisfied with how it comes.
Be very patient when doing this cause it takes ages to fully sand it propely, but the end result is fantastic, heres some pics.

buy a second one as it does tume but make sure is good the more scrates the more work also try and find one with minimal casting marks some are pritty average stip the paint off i found this the hardes part ended up leaving it in an acid bath get yourself a bench mount grinder bigger the better mine was about $200 ryobi job its the watts that count oterwise you will keep stalling it real pain buy a spindle to suit dont leave the store till you try fitting it on otherwise you'll be back buying a differant one i made bunnings open three differant types till they got one to fit then buy a siziel buff and cutting compond{gray** a stiched rag brown compond and a loose buff white compond use them in that order i like to grind off anything that doesent need to be there part numbers casting marks then start with a siziel this will tke out all the scratch marks still give a dull shiine but will leave marks as its a harsh cut move onto the stiched rag with brown compond follow the same procedure then onto the final buff with rag buff wheel. dont be scared to put your weaight into it a push hard onto the wheels at worst you will stall the grinder no big deal. its a bit of an inital outlay in cost but you will be able to do it for ever once you buy the tools start on something simple like the thermostast housing grind everthing off it not many people do it but its worth the extra work and start polishing it takes time to get it right and you will go black with dust but the end result is great and the satisfaction of doing it yourself is worth it iv done all of mine myself and would be happy to show you how to do it. only ever paint it if it cant be polished or chromed
