Question new threads ideas??????

i would just like to say to the Ford Forums team that you've done a great job setting up this brilliant forum.

I was thinking maybe we should have two new sections in the main index one being a introduce your self thread and the other one being a testing thread for new people to test out things like Polls and posting pics.

What do you think?

Kyle

Some good ideas, I personally think a thread in the Pub to introduce yourself is good enough though?
I like the idea of a practice forum for people to have a go at posting pictures and different posting techs, however I dont know if it would be worth setting up. It may not get used enough?

maybe they could just make a thread and have a practice in it and when theyve finished then they can ask a mod to delete it for them.
maybe make a sticky in the Bar to say that its ok to do so and also how to contact a mod about it when theyve finished.

This idea is already implemented. We have an introduce yourself thread, and also we have a testing thread inside Territory. This does not mean you can and should spam the thread.

Edited due to flame. I didn't mean it to sound like one, and I have had a bad day. I am not well, bloody flu.

Paxtonandrew: Please leave the poor guy alone. You are really knit-picking, perhaps you need to be more tolerant? The quality of his posts from the time he has joined, to this one has improved greatly, especially for someone who who left school early in their secondary education due to personal problems and stresses. Flaming someone by likening them to a dog is not very friendly, especially when I can pull some of your posts out where you have made an error or two.

Back on topic, seems like a good idea, but like mentioned earlier in the thread, it has already been covered in a way or two. Perhaps a tutorial to explain how vB tags work? I regularly see posts where an edited quote has a [quote] at the start but the end tag has been accidently deleted.

Cheers,
Chris

Default FAQ Stickies- just an idea

I tend it hang out mostly in the 'Contemporary Aus Fords' section of the site.
It seems we spend a lot of our time answering the same questions and pointing people to previous posts. There are a few threads there that should be sticky but for one reason or another, there are no sticky threads in that sub section, nor in many similar subsections. I realise that too many stickys can be annoying, but many worthwhile threads get lost. Like the BA6 Modification Guide

I was thinking that perhaps we could have a sub section of sticky threads or a FAQ section that could contain these useful and informative threads in their particular sub section. I hope you understand what I mean? Like a folder or a link at the top of the sub-section.

I don't know the protocol for getting a thread made sticky, I assume it is up to the mods to make that decision. I thought perhaps if we instruct people on how to rate threads (as people don't know or don't think to rate most threads), we could use that as an indication that the thread is 'stickworthy', with the mods making the final decision.

Anyway, it's just an idea, what do you think?

Im sure of the these mods

mrcrackers, smciner1, XR6Gal, sourbastard

Would be happy to help you out with that idea as it certainly has merit and helps process what may be of importance.

Im not sure of a separate Sub forum for stickies at this stage, but lets organise the main forum and see how it goes

You will find that we already have the concept established however it is not as used as much as it should be.

The sticky idea is one of the things that I have been played with in the photography section, and am unaware of whether it gets used or not.
Feel free to make up a thread of the topic threads in the relevant area, (similar to what I have done in HERE) and post up a link in here & if it's got enough info - we'll stick it up. The legwork you do now can help save others in the future.

Thanks Wulos, that's exactly what we need, I will get onto that right away.
I will post a thread and get others feedback and go from there.

See people, you don't always get shot down.
