Default Shaved door handles

Hi guys, I really like the clean smooth look of shaved door handles, so I thought it would look nice if i shaved the door handles on my falc and just put a chrome rod sticking out next to the window to push or pull to open the door. Just wondering what your opinions on this would be, I know people are going to say its my car and i can do what everi want because its my car, and thats exactly my feelings but i just want to know what people think.

I did a quick photoshop to se what it would look like (please excuse the bean can)

Ive always liked this, I think it looks wicked.

Are you just going to rely on keyless entry? Or leave the keyhole there and get rid of the doorhandles?

I did think about getting one of those door popping kits but there farken expensive when I could just put a button thing on the window sill. And I think I will just completely shave it.

It looks good, but it is only really benficial or worth it if you can do it yourself, i.e: a panel beater..

i have done it to me ef so obviaosly im gonna say i like it but if you were thinking of going elec poppers you still have to have the little rod on top of the door because you still need a mechanical/manual means of opening the door but year do it mate for sure!!

Looks awesome... But I might burst your bubble

Last I knew shaved handles on a road vehicle are an instant defect.. The Reason behind this is that emercency services need unhindered access to a vehicle incase of an accident. ( this is coming from a mate in the CFS )..

But im not 100% sure... I'll look into it for ya

but it does look nuts

You need one mechanical device to open the door .

Yeah i have also heard this but i think the push rod could be classified as mechanical device, hopefully.

If it's outside the car and will open the door, it's fine. A lot of showcars have a small pushrod near the rear view mirror for it.

Why not get Lamborghini style doors while your at it (audition for pimp my ride!)

Looks good, just don't like the idea of opening the doors.
The car doors are not light and you want to replace door handles with a bit of rod, I think the rod will break in a week.

In saying this I hope you do prove my wrong, good luck

Looks a lot cleaner/sleeker, almost as much of a difference between clear and amber indicators. You'd want to make sure that the rod is made of something sturdy though, or you'll be in a bit of trouble if it snaps. Might have to carry a miniture Jaws of Life in the boot just to be safe! :P

Id contemplated doing this to a wagon also, but just on the rears to smooth it out a bit more.
If you cant get in, just go through the boot

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=78927

Theres my attempt at it..

Skooter
first find out if you can do it .
it is easy to do but make sure your door hingers are rebushed before you do it and aline your doors so they open easy.
to rebush the hingers is cheap .. $1.50 per Hing it cost me in bushes.
here is my old XD

You see at the top of the door there is a little skull there..if I lift that skull it opens the door. I used 6mm round rod and bent it to suit my door and the other end went to the door latch where the orig door handle rod went to.... Good things with fords. there door latchers lift up not push down.
Now This is my XW That I am Building NOW
with this I again rebushed the hingers and I am useing 35lb boot poppers.. normale poppers are 17-19lb.
I have them hooked up to the inside door handle and even on a big old XW they open easy.

and with the Button i am useing

need any help let me know.
I have allso done this on a XB , ZK and a EA .
In Victoria it passers as you just have to have a leaver , latch , button or a switch to open ether of the front doors.

wow thanks for that trick_xd, that looks good and I probably will be asking you many questions in the future. With the boot poppers do they open the handel? that is a good idea, where did you get the boot poppers from and for how much (pm if you want)

Thanks
Mike

no it is deffiantley not a insant defect as long as you still have a manual/mechanical means of opening the door ie the little rod on the top of the door it also does not need to be enginered either hope that clears thing up a bit
