Unhappy I need big help with my taillights !!!!

hi guys i am trying to fit eb tailights and rear garnish on my ea falcon trying to do the clear taillight mod and i have a few problems

1. the garnish dosent fit so i tryed to cut holes in my boot with an angle grinder to make it fit due to having the reverse lights on the garnish where the ea taillights had them actually on the taillights themselves

2. the wiring on the eb taillights have a different plug with 4 wires instead of 5 like ea so i tryed to wire them up matching the colours of the ea plug to the colours of the eb ones. now the indicator works and the light when you have the headlights on work but when i put my foot on the break they dont get brighter

3. and the wiring on the reverse lights have a different plug as well and i dont know which wire is which

any help would be great from the guys who have done this stuff before !!!

Righteo, Been here done this

1. Your boot will Leak ALOT when it rains, I Seriously recomend getting a EB boot as ive done what you did on my old EA and It caused my boot to stink of mould,etc

2. As I dont have my car near me atm, Just simply try to find which wire is the Break light wire with a Multimeter, thats all i did when I did this conversion long before i was on the forums

3. The reverse lights on the garnish, use one as a negative on the bootlid and the other connects to the Reverse Wire on the drivers side Taillight, simply run a wire down to it.

hell yeah! my boot doesn't leak as such but if its been raining and you open your boot afterwards, the water just pours into the boot from the back of the garnish. It all just pools in there waiting for you to open your boot! It sucks.

could u drill holls at the bottom to drail it from the garnish?

LOL doug, you dont know how much that takes me back. I use to HATE that, to a point where id try to open the boot only like 1/10th of the way so the water didnt run in.

Tried it, I separated the bottom of the garnish to allow water to leak out, but it still use to be niagra Falls when i opened the boot.

As i said, HIGHLY recommend a EB bootlid

now this tail light conversion is really starting to **** me off !!!
nothing seems to work i thought this would be simple but its pretty hard

on top orange,black, brown,green red,green

on bottom red,black,brown with a green wire in behind it,green red, green blue

i used holesaws to drill the holes on my ea for the eb spac garnish, never leaked or anything, althought i wish i knew about the clear indicator thing before i sold it, i recon it would of looked mad on it

anyway good luck with the conversion 1TUFEA

my reverse lights dont work and me brake lights and my fuses keep blowing anyone have any ideas?

for the fuses you prolly got some wires crossing...must be shorting out somewhere

for reverse lights, stoopid questions but all i could think of
did you take the wire from the reverse light to the rear garnish?
and did you screw another wire to the metal part of the boot as a ground?

its all grounded properly and new bulbs are in just the problem of brakes and reverse not lighting up big bummer to one of my last none performance mods

umm if its brakes and reverse follow the wires and make sure they dont touch or do anything shifty along the way, that could be the reason for your fuses (ie: if they touch ground shorting out the circuit)

also i remember gettin the wires in the right position was a real hard job for me as i was among the first to attempt the eb lights/garnish on ea mod just play around switching the wires around (except the ground) and try to get it all workin properly

tell me how ya go with that

also just remembered for the red area of the tail lights make sure you have the globes with 2 of those circuit thingos inside thats what i did wrong in the ea and got me thinking for a while:P

I have nothing connected to that back wire. I simply plugged that configuration in and it worked straight off and is fine. All i can say is double check your wiring and make sure the colours match on each side.

I totally agree with InitialD (wiring ) ..use a multimeter to see what is being outputed to your lights on rewiring. .. press brake you will have output signal , blinker etc...
On the ea boot with eb garnish insert problem, you can mark the reverse lights location on ea boot, but you will have to hammer it in (reverse lights location) it can be done as i did it ,thought the whole car would fall apart..joke..
take it off mark all pin locations etc,-- drill out recess reverse lights, you will need to hammer it in to allow EB reverse lights to fit in ea boot setup. it is straight forward and not complicated , but of course buy a eb boot if it is beyond your modifiying skills, i know hammering sound terrible but all steel yields. concerning leaking boot, i to this day never had a leak in the boot from modifying at all ,cant see how as the garnish has a upper seal ? please inform me if i am wrong.
