Default FORD FOCUS RS Spy Photos!!!!

don’t be fooled by the looks of this test car. It is not the ordinary Ford Focus ST but the brand new Focus RS. Looking closer at the front end one can see the bigger air intakes and the driver helps drawing the photographers attention by giving him the finger and putting his foot down.
The sound of the 300bhp engine was unmistakable, just like the car’s fast acceleration with 4 wheel drive and the rally-like sound of that dump valve while shifting gears. Add some wide fenders, a more aggressive front end styling and you have the Focus RS, a true competitor to the upcoming EVO X.

Wow!

Wouldn't that be nice if it ever came down under.

Could something like this come under the FPV brand?

EDIT: thought that was a NSW EURO plate and I was slow picking the LHD. Got a little excited there for a minute :O

Your right this will be FPV model. The RS is a two door, AWD, rally sport (RS), 300bhp turbo charge 4 cylinder model that Fpv will bring for the rival against HSV astra and introducing small car performance market. The RS is built by prodrive, same company that own FPV.

:monkes: Topgear has already test drive the prototype and they say it a surperb car. :monkes:

Ummm NO.
1)it will never come out here cause AUS ford havent taken up the 4clynder performance market
2) what makes you think it will, if ford havent brought the ST150 i doubt the RS will come.
3) also the LR RS was never released in AUS.

The VXR Astra on pumps out 177kw. where as the RS pumps out 223Kw. AND the RS has AWD whereas the VXR doesnt....so really the VXR is just like the SRi Turbo, but with more power and better bits and drabs....pathetic...the XR5T is still a contender with the VXR

lets just hope..

And as much as wouldn't want the FPV badge on the beautiful RS,,... it would be head on competing with the HSV astra...

I agree there's sweet fk all chance of Ford selling them here. WRC would have to be more popular than V8 Supercabs in Australia to see them in the FPV showrooms.

Yeah I’m a little skeptical myself, as there has been a number of ‘false alarms’ already regarding the RS.

And if it does come out with the sort of specs that people are throwing around, then it most certainly won’t be a direct competitor for the VXR, but rather aimed at the STI and EVO and priced accordingly (50 - 60k).

By the way, the XR5 is more than a match (straight line speed aside) for the HSV VXR, and has come out on top in several European comparisons between the two cars. From what I've read, only Dave Morley (Motor’s pro Holden Journo), has thus far rated the Holden as the better car.

And even then, it would probably need to be a 4/5 door. Not looking too good fo Aus delivered RS.

Those fúckers in NZ will probably get the first batch off the assembly line though. :

NZ may even get it.. where as AUS might not. i know the NZ's get the mondeo.....they may get the RS. but i highly doubt that as well. i doubt anyware apart from the UK would get the RS..well anyware outside europe.

Fair enough people in this forum are saying that they want the st150...

something tells me the RS focus would be much more popular and if ford aus were going to choose between either of these models it would be the RS first

Sean LR RS wasn't realsed here becuase it was a very limited series. All got sold very quickly.

Only limiting factor that will stop the RS coming here is supply. ST already has a worldwide supply shortage and RS will be built in very small numbers and might be all sold before ford AUS can get its hands on any.

Rumor has it that Ford Aus wanted to sell the Fiesta RS here but as the project was cancelled it never happened.

I doubt it would come out here. Ford AU doesn't seem to have hot hatches on their priorities. If they did, they'd surely sort out the XR5 supply problems. And those pictures look alittle different from the "Focus RS" photos I've seen on other forums. Those other pictures of the RS had vents on the bonnet on the side bonnet creases.

pertuan: Ford AUS can do NOTHING about the XR5 supply. Worldwide demand is well above supply. Its impossible to get anymore XR5's into the country. Australia isn't the only country in the world

Yeah I understand and appreciate that. But it just seems like nothing is being done about it although I only know what is being said in forums. I just can't help but think that if Ford AU were serious about commiting to the XR5, they would work on something like what VW did for the Golf GTi.

Default Focus RS

This beast is just what FPV needs. If they want to promote their 'Europeaness' like Ford then what better halo could they have. Works to Prodrive strengths and rallying. Also works with Coupe convertible and maybe XR5 coupe/3 door to give Focus more Euro prestige.

We're still keeping the Silver XR5 though - so lucky to have got her.

What can Ford AUS do? The plant is running at capacity and everything is sold before its even been made.

i'm not going to commit to saying it IS the RS, because for all we know this could just be a modified XR5. there are few design cues on that car which smack of anything but aftermarket work. that gobsmacking figure of 300hp would not exactly be difficult to achieve in the XR5 given the fact that it [a] already makes 220 or thereabouts [b] has a 2.5L capacity. i have little doubt that an exhaust, turbo and tune could produce your 300hp comfortably.

nevertheless, an RS in Australia would be bloody amazing

EDIT: OH ****!!! where did those back doors go?!?! hahaha comment retracted :togo:

EDIT 2: hmm.. could still just be an imported model because the bloke couldnt be bothered waiting for Ford Aus to deliver him one.... i'm still not convinced

Yep there are already 2 different 300 bhp packages available for the ST/XR5, the Graham Goode kit, which utilises the standard turbo, and the WOLF kit which uses the bigger turbo from the S60R.

That's the beauty of the current situation - Ford doesn’t actually have to do any tweaking or development to the 2.5L to achieve the extra power required for an RS, because they already have it - the Volvo S60R.

It's a 2.5L 5 cylinder also, but it runs a bigger turbo and punches out 220 kW and 400 Nm. There are modified versions of this motor pushing out over 450 BHP!

If Ford does release an RS Focus, this is the motor they will most likely use. I would think that Ford would also 'borrow' the new S40 AWD drive train (S40 is built on same platform as Focus).

I'm no Engineer, but the RS should be a no brainer for Ford....they have all the running gear right under their noses (minimising development costs), the current ST is selling like hot cakes, and they are set to win this years Manufacturers title in the WRC (further raising the profile of the Focus brand). But this Time Ford, PLEASE BRING IT TO AUSTRALIA!!

i also have a bit of difficulty believing a test driver would give someone the finger, whereas someone who owns a modified ST 2 door wouldn't want his goddamn numberplate plastered all over the internet. honestly, they could at least have the brains to black that out.

but now that we have it, does anyone here work at the RTA or in the force? plate check : see what sort of car it's registered as

LOL higher chances of this car going on sale in NZ than in AUS... but cute looks, and I am sure the performance would be phenominal It better have a Phat badge on there cause it barely looks different than an XR5
