Default Dont you just hate it when... (personal rant)

Dont you just hate it when the RTA places a fixed speed camera on your local main road for no apparent reason whatsoever.

The glourious RTA in all its wisdom has decided to place a fixed speed camera on a short straight stretch of the Pacific Highway with no school (and no accidents, that i know off) in a 70 zone only reasonable route southbound from the far northern end of the central coast (discounting a 10klm detour to the F3) Thereby ****ing off atleast 10,000 locals for no benefit whatsover except revenue.

And yes before thousands of victorians jump down my throat, i know that NSW fixed camera's have warning signs before the camera's; but i figure that i must drive along that piece of road something on the order of 1000 times a year and i bound to stuff up at least once.. and how long will it be after the March election until Roozendal announces that the signs on the camera's will be removed and every tourist gets nailed by the NSW camera's

***I know this thread serves no real purpose but im having a real bad day and i though id have a rant

Could always get a car which has a speed limiter.

*cough* Peugeot 307 *cough*

Nice little feature that is. Set it to 50km/h and that's as fast as you can go. There is a switch under the accelerator which allows you to override it. Simply plant your foot and then you can go faster.

Can you buy them aftermarket and fit them?

I know someone who bought a 307 for their daughter. They modded it and had it speed limited permanently to 110.

But didn't you get the memo? Camera's save lives as speeding is the one and only cause of accidents (and of course the root of all evil)...[/sarcasm]

No, and they are not yellow either.

They might have a sign saying "Cameras save lives" or "Camera's Operating in this area", something like that anyway.

Acutally i love this link here

driver travelling at 65 km/h in a 60 zone is twice as likely to have a serious injury or fatality crash as a driver travelling at the speed limit
Come on that is total rubbish, a moronic unattentive drive IMO is 10 times for likely to have a fatal crash under the speed limit than a half decent driver 5klms over the speed limit.

Wouldnt that Peugeot 307 thing be a bit dangerous, what happens if you need some grunt instantly to avoid an accident?

Apart from the ones on the Princess Highway into Geelong.

Some absolute legend wrote a big C in each lane, with yellow line marking paint, before the camera's... And where possible on the support columns of the bridge the cameras were hanging from.

I think some of the markings have since been covered up, but you can still see them.

P.S. Why would they signpost them. Victoria cant financially function without speed cameras.

i think you'll find that it is the princes highway, not princess.

if you want to speed and pay the voluntary tax that's entirely up to you, but i choose not to.

The problem with that logic is that the moronic, unattentive driver is more likely to be the one driving over the speed limit than the decent, attentive driver.

Know what I hate more?
