hey guys I think the EA motor is on the way out...
Well not so much the engine but the Head gasket is not looking too good and I have lifter noises and it is not MPFI yet... So I was just asking what is involved in doing the engine swap to an EF one and will the EA 4 speed bolt up to the EF engine or not.... Also what should I expect to pay for an EF engine (complete) in good condition... And if the EA 4speed doesn't bolt up how much for a 5speed to match.... Cheers... Jim P.S If I do, do the swap is anyone good/willing at putting in engines cause be buggered if I am paying someone....(professional)

i can help you with the conversion...
i just ripped the motor and tranny out of my EL GLI sedan and put a EL XR6 motor and manual tranny in... the old el engine was begining to loose its battel with the effects of age... hail ford for lasting 500,000 km's with a speeding p-plater behind the wheel

i'd recommend getting an EL motor, easier swap then ef motor.
means you don't have to swap dizzy etc. just one less thing to do. private would be the best way to get a motor, often get people just trying to get rid of big things like motor fairly cheap.

Shouldn't cost more than $45o.
As John said EL motor is easier, however I have put EF motors in both EA's and EB's.
