Default what i learnt today.

today i went on the task of installing an aftermarket electric aerial into my ed.

turns out the aerial isnt designed for this car and really doesnt want to go.
early on i discovered the aerial just isnt long enough to get past all the metal as the base is big and chunky.

so i thought this will go in if i just chop a chunk of metal out here and there.
an hour latter and a trip to bunnings for more cutting disc latter. i discovered i have to chop a hell of alot of metal out to get the damn thing in.

so i thought i really should at least see how much i can get a second hand aerial for.

turns out after a few calls to wreckers. it will cost me $66 for an aerial yet while i was at it i was talking to ea2ba and bam he has exactly what i need and for a 3rd of the price.
so soon i shall have what i should have got in the first place. as well i have a nice new chunk of metal out of my car :P

moral of the story. dont bother with an aftermarket electric aerial unless you are 100% sure it will fit in straight away.

PS: i just relized i should have taken some pics but its to late now the car is back together. ill take some pics of the mayhem when i open it back up to put the second hand aerial in.
