Default selling my el just a few questions first

iv recently had a serious show of interest on my el fairmont that iv been trying{not very hard just sticker on window** to sell the guy wants it for his son iv told him $7000 as is that stero subs 18' wheels lowerd zorst usual stuff iv chromed and polished engine bay. the cars in really good nick 150 000k donno if thats cheap expencive or about right
my question is at that price should i offer it with roady or without i cant really justify spending heaps or mucking around with changing stuff back would it be unreasonable to sell without i know it needs rear tyres and the headlights are a bit yello its got superlows unsure if they will pass.
this is the first car iv sold so any tips on selling would be appreacaited
will be a sad day to see her go kinda dont want to sell they really grow on you ill crack it if i see it cruising round

Don't offer what you dont have to, unless it will complete the sale, personally if I was buying it I would ask for a roady or I would walk away, but plenty of people dont bother.

Also DONT FORGET to do a notice of disposal the moment you sell the car

notice of diposal is a from you hand in to vic roads that stats you no longer own the car and lists all the details of the new owner and the date of sale, that way if they go running red lights and not transferred the rego it will not be your problem.

If they are serious and you agree on a price and they pay a deposit with the balance due pending a road worthy then that can be fine, at the end of the day you wont at least get a road worthy for no reason, plus a few hundred deposit will up front pay fro most minor repairs you may picked on for.

If the car has 100mm ground clearance ride height doesnt matter, a road worthy is just that, is the car road worthy and safe, I dont think it means it's legal essentially, if you get my point.

The only thing I don't know is if you go get a RWC and they give you a long list to fix if you then HAVE to fix it and pass the RWC, this is the case in NSW, so I am not sure in VIC, only owned one car in VIC so far.

Sell it without the RWC if you can it will save you running around and paying extra $$$ to get little things fixed.

When you go to get it the RWC tester will look at your car and list all the defective items, they then give you X amount of time to get it fixed before they look at the car again and if all is fixed it gets its RWC.

I sold my car without one it saved a lot of hassles, i had stuff like new rear brakes lying around ready for the RWC anyway so i just chucked it in for the buyer, the car sold to the first guy that called up and had a look at it so cant get much easier sale than that!

Just looked on ebay and found a bit of a price, this is for a series 2 ef gli model. There askin $9000. So $7000 for an EL fairmont is a good price for him. I think if he complains he needs to take a look around at the market

Just because people ask a certain price though, doesn't mean they'll get it!

Try selling a standard EF GLI for 9k, and see how you go!

This is what I thought too, but I had a car knocked back a while ago for mods - exhaust, pod filter, intercooler, too low (borderline legal height) etc.

Other than the mods, they didn't fault anything else...

Oh by the way the new owner will have to get a roadworthy or else he wont be able to get the rego transfered into his name. I have to do the same thing next week when i pick up my new car. I grabbed the rego transfer forms from vic roads the other day and it states you must send in a copy of the rwc with the money for transfer fees .

Maybe tell the guy, a price bump up if you do the roady or a price drop if he does it, that way the idea of saving cash will be quite enticing for him and usually helps the sale along the way.

If you start doing the road yourself, sell the illegal bits back through the forums, a good way to cover your cost of the roady.
