Hey guys,
hopefully someone can help me out with this, wanting to replace the globes in the cluster for an AU. Im not exactly sure how to do it, and just wondering if its a simple task or a long process. Nothing fancy is going in, replacement factory globes have been bought to replace the busted ones in there. ANy help greatly appreciated. |

yeah i'd be interested to know how to do that too. i wanna replace the factory globes with blue ones...if anyone has pics of how to do it too that would be sweet

Ok had a crack at it just then..
What ya do is theres 2 screws directly above the cluster, need to undo them. Then get a flathead screwdriver and wedge it between the vinyl of the dash and the cluster. Make some room for your fingers so u can get a grip on each side and pull it out.. Its a Farken tight fit (bloody AU's) but should come out. At the top theres 6 light grey globes, the tops are rectangles so u wont miss em and they pretty much just twist out with pliers. Pulling the plug for the loom helps aswell, so u dont have to twist your hands an cut em up. Just replace them and away you go! hope that helps tolly. |

To make it a little easier though ... take your fuse cover off ... and get a long screwdriver and lever the cluster out from behind ... it should pop out (after removing the 2 screws above at the front).

what i do, is i unscrew the screws,
then stick an allan key in each hole. cant remember, but i have to pull my cluster out in the next couple of days anyway. move em around a bit and i can then pull the cluster out fairly easily.

I use 2 pointy tip screws about 5mm wide to grab the cluster, chipboard screws with the course threads work well.
After removing the screws, get some long fat 'pointy' screws, a tadd larger than the holes in the cluster. Screw them into the holes by hand, they will grab the cluster within a turn or two. The fat screws will grab the cluster just after the points of the screws, they won't grab into the holes behind the cluster ;). Then wiggle the cluster left and right (using the screws as handles) lightly while pulling it out towards yourself. I've had mine in and out a few times that way without any damage to the cluster, no screw marks etc etc .
