Woolies. Coles and Aldi don't have the range and variety. There are certain brands that I like for some products and these are usually only available at Woolies.

Coles here. I used to go to Bilo but since they're gone it's Coles. For you Victorian people you may have some extra choice soon, don't be too surprised if Franklins makes a return.

i much prefer woolies
i've worked there before (a few yrs back) but im not biased.
i work in a quiet upmarket shopping centre in adelaide and im sorry to say but the coles there is crap! The amount of times iv'e bought stuff from there and had to through it out because it was yuk (off or getting very old) is unbelievable. I just wont buy from there again. I'd rather go to woolies at murray bridge which is just down the road from me!

Anyway, I mainly shop at Woolies, they seem to have a better range, although if I'm near Coles at the time, I'll quite happily go there. Pop into Aldi now and again, but once our new house gets built, I suspect I'll become a bit more of a regular there!

I work for Woolworths but mum mainly shops at Franklins

You'll find more and more of the "Woolworths Select" range taking over other products (e.g. Masterfoods Spices) from now on. Also, sometimes a product will be deleted from the shelves if there is a packaging change. Quite often (and this happened with Dolmio) when they bring the product back, they'll make the jar smaller, and put up the price. Smiths chips are now 230g and not 250g, but do you pay less? Also, the lines that are deleted are not up to the store. The brains trust at head office make the decisions. And they don’t have a clue!

50/50 Aldi/Woolies. Woolies is closer so we get the consumables from there as we need, but the bigger shopping expeditions are done at Aldi.

About those envelopes - I'm a ripper!

My wife and I are the same, all our fruit and veg is from the market. I can walk in with $20 and walk out with about 5 or 6 bags of fruit and veg and still have about $5 change left.
I've also found the quality is much better than Coles. We still buy the regular items from Coles, Bi-Lo etc, but all fruit and veg is market!

I'm a recent convert to Aldi ... the majority of the items are produced in Australia or Europe ... and I have found some of these "different" brands are actually better than your mainstream brands as well.

I don't do all of my shopping there ... but we get our cleaning products there (it's about 1/3 the price of Coles/Woolies.). We have also been getting more and more food items (after initial trialling).

About two thirds of our shopping is at Aldi ... and the rest is from Woolies/Coles (depending) ... and we get our meat from our local butcher.

Our shopping bill has halved ... easily.
Should have started shopping there long ago.

The good thing about the Aldi bags ... is that they hold more ... are strong ... and never break (if you pack them properly).

At least my local Aldi ... the checkout guys can scan bloody quick ... so you are never waiting in line long at all.

I also like to pack my own bags too (cos the Coles and Woolies kids are 9 times out of 10 bloody hopeless).

My pocket mourns the loss of BILO as all our basics were there cheap and tasty. Now it's Coles tis not the same and av spend about $20 up for same enough trolley. IGA ex Franklins, Sims not bad too. Aldi was over the road but BILO was better and one spot for nearly everything.

Usually use Safeway as it's a quick walk. Small store though
Best news is that because some goose forgot to exercise their lease option and Coles gazzumped them..haha : So byebye Safeway in July hello Coles in August. Probably BILO style as it's small site, yeah.

I buy meat at a butcher cheaper and awesome quality. Fruit from Fresh-r-us or V&R - pay a little more per piece, but everything gets eaten as it tastes so good. Rather pay more for fruit and love it than spend even more on Cadbury and Icecream.

my preference is Drake Foodland Gawler, about 20 mins drive away.
Prices are a little cheaper, bigger variety of goods, more specials and woolworths not getting my money is good. Any fruit and veg is fresher too.

I also shop at wholesalers sometimes for larger sized bottles of stuff.

Shop at Franklins in NSW, get a loyalty card, once you've spent $2000 dollars you'l get a $20 voucher. PLUS if you're really lucky you'll get to see me!

Must have something to do with the area you live in because it is definitely not like that around here. I use Aldi at Tweed Heads South and, sometimes, Coolongatta.
I find it cleaner than the regular supermarkets and way less hassles in the car park. A mixture of peple on the checkouts - some are males. Parking is a breeze - it's spacious and I'm yet to see a car back into another. At some Supermarket centres I'm tempted to sit in the car just to keep an eye on it.

I hate nob areas that have old bags working as checkout chicks. What's the deal with that?
I also hate the way Aldi scans things at a million miles per hour, and then put the onus on the customer to keep up with them or become a threat to their efficiency.

Already answered that. No "nobs" as you put it and no "old bags" as you put it at the Aldi I go to. Just regular people who appreciate affordable quality. maybe a few of them don't like to serve you! If checkout chicks are your scene then go for it. I can think of better places to go to make contact with the opposte sex.

There's Coles and Woolies 1 minute drive from my place... so either one for me. Coles more often though.

Is this thread still going?
Honestly, who gives a toss where you shop.
About as interesting as having a poll as to what colour jocks you have on.
Shouldn't this be in a New Idea or Womans Day forum?
