Default Matlab Programming

Hi

Not sure if i will have any luck but i thought i would ask!!

I am currently completing my thesis for my engineering degree and need to model the thermodynamics of a reaction, i was going to attempt to use Matlab to solve for this.

I have about 6 or 7 simultaneous equations that i need to solve for so my program will run. I cant figure out how to do it!!! I have looked into using matrices but i dont think this will be possible due to linearity!

So if anyone out there has used Matlab and could give me a hand, or some pointers that would be fantastic!

Thanks!!!

Jason

Ohhhh no! I never thought I'd see a Matlab post on fordforums! I went to two classes last semester and didn't bother going back. Fortunately they changed the unit this semester so there is only a tiny bit of Matlab programming!

Some of you might get a couple of PMs from me in the future :P

Simultaneous equations are best handled in the program called Maple. I used it when I did my thesis. Excellent for crunching multiple variables in equations. I did programming in Matlab as part of my Electrical Engineering degree and even with this background I found it useless for this type of work. Additionally, Maple is extremely easy to program in.

Hope that helps.

Ill have a look mate I did something similar as part of my Civil/Structural Engineering Thesis (was to do with hydraluics rather than thermodynamics, will get back to you.

But yes use Maple not Matlab to do this for you.

Oh Jesus there's two word i never thought i'd ever here again... Matlab and Maaaple (as my lecturer used to call it). I remember doing some programming with Matlab during my Mech Eng course but i can't recall any of it to be honest. I believe a book exists which explains all the different functions and features of Matlab... maybe try and track down a copy.

I did a very brief 2min search on the net and found a site where you can d/l chapters and worked examples. See the link below.

Linkie

Hope this helps!

Or an albanian pogrommer?

Matlab sucked for me too. We had an iraqi lecturer and we'd **** him to no end:

"Saddam crap program we're using here, it's enough to drive Hussein person mad!"

"Err, Mr Al-Sudani, what does it mean when it says "WMD Error"?"

used it a couple times to do my mates engineering pracs... eletrical engineering i think

i do criminology/psychology now use to do computer science and visual basic or vim was 1mil x better for programming than matlab, i havent used matlab in depth dont know what exactly it can do but for programming i hate it
