Default Lighting problems *urgent*

Gday,

I've been having a bit of problems with my lighting system over the last week.

The problem been,

I have no low beam lights, only parking and high-beam.

While looking at the light, Parkers work, High Beam works. (all 3 globes running at once) so by that reasoning does this mean the Low beam globes/bulbs are fine?

Diagnosing the problem...

First I thought it may have been the relay, swapped relays with the same rated relay (I think it was the fan) and the problem persist.

Now this leads me to believe that it may be the Headlight Switch/knob.

Is this a common problem? Dirty contacts or loose connections?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Id say plain old blown globes. Change them and the low beams will work once more.

But When I put on my high beams, it appears as if all 3 globes are working?

there should be 4 anyway, but only one element in each low beam / outer globe will be on, try swapping one or both of them for globes you know work, or new ones and see what happens, if that doesn't work, it could be low beam wiring

the globes can be blown on low beam only as there are 2 different fillaments but i feel your problem is in your combo switch (blinke etc) as this switches the high and low beam if it was the headlight switch you would not have high beam only you would have no high or low beam as the switch supplies power to the hi/lo beam switch hope this helps

If it is correct that both filaments appear to be on when the high beam is selected, then it sounds like the multi-switch (indicator). It would be unusual for both low beam globes to blow at the same time. Fuse is always the first thing to check whenever both lights go off simultaneously.

If both low beam are off ... but the high beam comes on when flicking to high beam ... to me it sounds like the circuit breaker under the bonnet ... in the fuse box there is a silver circuit breaker in there ... similar size to a relay.

But he is saying, and he seems fairly certain, that both high and low beam filaments come on when he switches to high - therefore problem is in "indicator" stalk. New multi-function switch and problem solved.

Ive got that drama too but the lows dont work at all. if i swap the wiring and put the lows to the high beam wiring, when i flick the high beam on, i can get the lows to work.

Have you got you problem sorted yet? I saw a couple or responses mentioning that the Indicator/light combo switch on the steering column may be the problem.
I saw this combination switch just come up on ebay & thought you might be interested, if you haven't fixed the fault as yet, and were thinking along these lines. This one has no cruise control.

Or this one with cruise control;-
