Default fairmont ghia interior door handles

just wondering if anyone knew the price of a set of 4 fairmont ghia door interior handles, and how hard it would be to put them onto a xr8.

If they are the chrome ones,

NU 7A306 A HOUSING $11.34
NU 7A306 B HOUSING $90.06
ER F22600 B HANDLE DOOR INR RH X2 $59.70
ER F22601 B HANDLE DOOR INNER LH X2 $59.70

Total $242.90

I dont see why you would need the housing again, this is just the lidt FORD gave me to say what I needed.

Love utes ... i only needed 2.

easier to remove the entire door trim though as you have to unhook the door handle cable from the handle itself ... and 2 screws hold the handle into the door frame.

Took you need to get the door trim off.

10mm socket
Phillips head screwdriver.
Flat head screwdriver to lever a few things out.

There are a couple of hidden bolts in the door ... and one or 2 hidden screws as well.

That's for the front doors though ... i have no idea about the rear doors.

Here's one I prepared earlier:

I paid about $30 per handle a few months ago. I heard a rumour they went up, but I'm not sure how true that is. Bayfords on ebay often have them if your dealer tries to rip you off, since they're not the kind of thing that comes up at wreckers very often. It's a fiddly bastard of a job if you just replace the handle and not the whole mechanism, but easier than drilling out the rivets etc which S1 (not sure on others) have.

Bayford parts are pretty good. $110 for the set. Makes me almost think about these for mine.

Bucky - they were made for your car - seriously. And $122.50 including postage is way cheap.

Series 2 handles all screw on - they hadn't invented screws when the series 1s were made, hence the WW2 style pop rivets.

I had considered these in the past, but I just don't think Chrome door handles look all that good. No offence to the guys who have them, but they arn't really my thing. Hard to beleive I know :

Interior's need to be clean and simple (Factory).

They are good, but i tend to agree with Bucky on this one. I feel that they don't quite look in place with a standard interior. In a Ghia with all the leather and woodgrain they look better, but not with cloth trims.

I know it will look much better in my ute when my door trims come back from the trimmer .... will have 2-tone grey leather on the door cards and armpads soon.

My interior with the exception of the headlining and pillar covers is black. I just think the Chrome would stand out far too much. I much prefer the black look. It looks cleaner. I have too much going on outside to have it happen on the inside.

Annyway, back on topic.

My interior is the black as well, and I reckon the chrome handles would look good in there, give it a bit of a highlight.

I guess that it just goes to show that everyone has different tastes and opinions Our cars would all be dead boring if we all had exactly the same taste, no AU would be different and individual.

I agree, i'm sure it would look really good and make a difference, but I like the black. Plain and simple, not too exciting.
