Hi guys,
Driving home from work (i work in Strathpine) the traffic was soooo congested that a normal 8min drive home turned into a 60min drive home. Did anyone else on the forums get stuck in this traffic as well? I think it was something to do with the really bad accident on the Bruce yesterday. Matt |

I also work in Strathpine and a normal 20 odd minute drive some days can take up to an hour.
Seems to depend on what does happen on the Bruce highway for sure. Luckily yesterday I didn't get caught up in it

Yes, it did had everything to do with the fatal accident on the Bruce.
Having very recently moved from Goondiwindi to Brisbane (Chapel Hill) I am finding it irritating to deal with the traffic build-up! Though the traffic updates on the radio stations are damn handy!

The accident in question happened near the Narangba onramp - a sedan carrying 4 people (incl driver) somehow clipped a tow truck on the side of the road (picking up a disabled vehicle) and an 11 yr old girl died instantly. Looks like the driver either wasn't paying attention or was driving too fast and didn't execute the maneuver properly and the left hand side of the car clipped the rear of the truck.

The problem with that road, which I have been traveling every work day for the past 15 years, is that while the road has just been upgraded to three lanes each way the lanes north and south remain unprotected from traffic crossing the medium strip. At 100 -110 kph the results of this will always be tragic.

I work at Murarrie, (near gateway bridge) and it took me 1hr 50mins to get home to Morayfield, got to narangba to find the accident was gone, but 3 lanes of traffic was still at a stand still..

I go from telstra store to telstra store on the northside and somedays the arvo traffic along strathpine/gympie road is horrific. Anyone would think it wouldve gotten better since they built that bypass. I only live at bracken ridge yet my drive home takes forever. Im lucky i was only at kippa ring the day of that accident on bruce, Heard that traffic was a complete standstill.
