My boss is the best I've had, he's very flexible with my uni timetable (even went as far as allowing me a couple of weeks off for exams), provides free meals, gets along with everyone and is pretty relaxed and laidback.

Only bad thing would be the pay - but hey, all those above offset that!

My boss is a ****er, he will change your shifts without telling you for example
Wednesday and Thursday is my weekend, He will put me on thursdays roster on the day before, (wednesday, which im not there, so i cannot check)
And if i complain about another worker (only the females) he will corner me with her there, when you come in the next day, and get ripped for making up lies, when it is painfully obvious that it may take her 4 hours to do a 15 minute job, and still get paid double what i do..
***I am not saying women in general. just the ones i work with***
The other boss, we will get a call 10 mins before the shift starts (usually sitting in the tearoom, eating tea) to come in 2 hours later (7pm) and stay 2 hours over, (until 1am) which we get paid nothing extra for...
I need a decent job :(

Hmm. My boss would have to be in between really good and good. Sometimes he seems to forget what it's like to be the worker though. He owns the business which he used to work for so its sort of an advantage that he knows the ins and outs. Not one of those types who will take all week off if doesn't have to unlike the previous owner.

I'm in one of those situations though where he needs me to stay (really up **** creek without a paddle if I left without any exageration) and I can't really afford to leave which sort of works out to be a secure job.

Current Boss is very good, he and his wife treat their employees really well. Next boss (second job) is a total idiot and has no idea, but due to the work you're never in the depot with him that long so it doesnt matter that much, and the third boss (starting another job in a few weeks) is a good friend and a very smart guy, so hopefully it should turn out pretty well.

The old boss, well, let's not go there........ :togo:

I am the boss here. The branch is travelling really well. Hard to find staff though.
If anyone wants a job in the rural sales sector in Nth QLD, send me a PM.

Cheers

I've got a good boss - He just approved a day's leave for tomorrow. I'm sure I'll hate him again by mid next week though.

My immediate supervisor is not too bad. He's a bit of a control freak and is rather inflexible. He runs the shift like we're all school kids yet at the same time he's not a bad bloke. My theory is he may have had problems in the past (too easy going) with staff doing silly things and it's bitten him hence the control freak bit.

My manager is a snake. Looks like he should be managing a maccas, he has a real goofy look but behind that mask there is a lot going on. He's a young-ish guy on his way to the top. What I'd call a "CV Builder", just sail into an area, create havoc, grind staff into the ground, build up stats, take all the credit and move on. We don't get on and he'll get rid of me if he can.

Only had one boss. First job after leaving school. Was good to work for, firm but fair. Chased me out the door some times as he wanted to go home.

10 years was enough and my employment was shakey as business was slowing. Now my own boss, that's sweet and sour in itself.

Jinxed myself. B4stard just called me up and told me I was being sent back up to Darwin for a fortnight, starting next week.

Bad boss.

I have an awsome boss! He gives me a kick in the backside when I deserve it but thats about it, He is always shouting us beer at the end of the day and if we finish early we still get paid till 5:00. Just the perks of working for a small company I guess!

Does he realize that shouting you beer at the end of the day makes him responsible for you if you have a crash on the way home..... even if you have 1, 2 or 3 beers.. dont mean to be a spoiler, but i have seen it happen at an electrical workshop I worked at once.....

I am the boss of about 43 people, and I like to think I am good at it. We dont have many staff leave and they all like working where they do. My boss is in brisbane, and generally leaves me alone. As long as we sell up a storm weekly and keep a decent gp% all is happy !

You sound like me a couple of years ago. I used to enjoy being the boss, I probably still would if it wasn't for the corporate crap that we have to put up with.
Since retiring early I can honestly say, I miss being a boss and working with my team. I DO NOT miss the board meetings, weekly, monthly meetings and report writing.
Relaxing in the comfort of my dreams is everything it's cracked up to be, trust me.

I reckon I was a good boss, but only to those who were supportive and loyal employees. I was a complete bastard (in their opinion) to those who bludged, did sloppy work or simply turned up to get a pay packet.

But everyone is a bastard to someone, aren't they?
