very interested in this as i have a few sets of ba calipers hanging around, could be very useful if the conversion is relativewly simple.

i pm'd him last week about his brakes, and this is what he said.

first you have to get the stub axles machined, cut the ars that the stock pads sit on. Then you get ba calipers that will bolt straight to the stub axles after machining, Then you buy ELGT Rotors and use AU2 brake hoses.

thats what he told me how he did it

Is it legal to do that to your brakes?

truthfully i dont know. but it wouldn't at all weaken the strength of the steering knuckle assy i wouldn't think so i cant see how it could be illegal.

ps keep an eye on ebay... ive been in contact with mrspares and hes releasing an e series brake upgrade kit real soon hopefully next week, and at a reasonable price as well.

well less than 2500 i reckon it could be done for about 1.5k for a decent kit but who knows

ok i managed to get in contact with him, firstly he says that they are legal as long as you say you have ELGT stub axles fitted ( apparently you cant tell the difference between his and GT ones).
He told me he priced up what it would cost me and quoted me 1600 which included the rotors, calipers, brake lines, brake pads, brake fluid and BRAND NEW ball joints!!! which he recommends, now i think thats a bargain, i got quoted about $200 alone just to replace the ball joints cos mine are noisy but fpvwpn says that you should replace them to handle the improved stopping power.
He said he posted a kit in the forums for that same price and everyone told him it was way too expensive, then apparently got booted off the forums??
Does $1600 sound too expensive? Personally i think its a real good price to pay to replace my crappy single piston calipers for twin piston ba calipers and 330mm ELGT rotors???

its not expensive at all. new EL GT rotors are not cheap, and would be the most expensive part of the conversion...
you cant use au or ba rotors because they have a totally different style hub, making it EL GT ones only

i think there must have been another reason why he was banned, thats not a reason to be banned.

i'll look into it

How do the BA calipers bolt straight to the stub axle do they weld something on or just drill an tap a hole??
well if someone can get into contact with him and ask for a price for just the machining and mounting work, cos i have 4 ba calipers and can get my own rotors and other parts...but i would love to do this. so if anyone can get in contact with him or ask him how much to just mount the calipers onto the stub would be much appreciated.

it seems maybe he shouldnt be banned can probly save us all some money

And i thought EA-AU brake hoses were the same?? just the hard lines vary between abs/non abs and au/ef/el abs cars.

i believe the ba caliper mounting bracket bolts onto where the ea-el caliper does, then you need to grind off the slides that the ea-el brake pads sit on.

im actually tossing up getting another pair of uprights and having a go at the mods, see if its easy enough

why you ask?, not only to fill up my 18's but i might need to stop a little better soon. lets just say within a month or two there will hopefully be a new "special" build thread started. only need to convince the parents to give me the garage now...lol

FPVWPN was banned because he is a very dodgey backyard bob operator.. And got very abusive towards some influencial members when confronted about his warranty and the rest..

If you ar looking for a nice brake upgrade give Richard from Advanced Performance Vehicles a call.. I was talking to him a few weeks back and he is just finalising a complete 330mm or 343mm brake upgrade for e-series falcons which have full ADR approval and are at very decent prices..

Feel free to PM me regarding his contact details..

Cheers,
Nik

He was banned for making threats against members, me being one of them. I dont care what some idiot says on a forum but that sort of crap will not be tolerated on here end of story.

And IMHO if you trust a guy like him to mess with something as important as your brakes, you are asking for trouble. No qualifications, no guarantee - no thanks.
