Nah they are just trying to sell you a mobile phone plan. Sure the phones "free" but how much money do they want you to fork over on their plan.

Do what my brother does. If they say the phones free say thanks send it to (your address). You shouldn't have to do anything else if it truely is free.

By the way, I got my phone "free" on my mobile plan. But I knew what I was getting into and it was my choice. So if it sounds a bit iffy it probably is.

Dont trust them. Did you enter a competition? Just say to send it to my address, if they know your phone number they know your address. But dont give your address to them yourself, just say send my free phone to my address.

I get the "you've been selected for a free mobile" call all the time. They always ask if I want a free mobile and I just say no thanks and hang up. I listened to the speil once and thats how I know they are just trying to sell you a mobile plan.

(she sounded like she was calling from Philippines, from her accent,im from Philippines so i noticed it, i thought these call centres were usually from India lol )

Definitely trying to churn you over to their service. I get these calls all the time. Lets see what I've "won" in random prize draws.

- Free phone
- A discount holiday at a low low price of 900 bucks to QLD
- Cheap carpeting for my apartment
- Low low mobile plan

Thats all I can remember right now.

I got one of these calls last week.

The company was something or other G on behalf of Telstra.

I told the Indian caller 3 times that i couldn't understand her English and asked to speak to an Australian.

She hung up in the end as I couldnt understand what she was saying, who she was, what the terms were.

I asked to speak with her supervisor and then she hung up.

Im getting really p!ssed than I get rung up by people trying to sell me stuff that cant ever speak the language fluently and even more p!ssed when I ring a business and have to try to do business with people like this. My ISP is the worst.

I think that it doesn't do a business any favours by outsourcing these call centres overseas to a country where English isnt the first language.

I have had calls from these people before.

Next time im going to just give her fake name, driver number etc but the real address. Surely to be locked into a contract you must sign the document first. Its an unsolicited phone call so might as well see how far it gets me and if a phone does actually arrive lol

Better answer is demand they give your free Phone to a charity on your behalf, and that you will check up with the charity to make sure it was donated.

My sister got a free mobile with a credit card in the UK. When I went to visit I put a Virgin pre paid card in it and I had a mobile, then I gave it back to her.

You know those compititions at the fish&chip shop/local supermaket
you fill in the form and drop in the box.
if you look at the fine print it says something along the lines of
this information may be used for marketing purposes
basicly they sell your name and number then suprise suprise you get a phone call.

I asked "what's the catch when they offered me a "free" phone, and they said the plan cost $20/month for 2 years. I told them I spend $5/month on average (pre-paid). I didn't take them up on their offer.

I had them call up, once again an Indian, and tell me I'd been "randomly selected" for a free "camera phone". No make or model mentioned, just "camera phone". I was like cool, send it to me, and they were like "no we need your details so we can put you on $30 monthly plan but you will get $30 worth of call and sms included" I laughed and said, no thanks.

Why didn't you just start the call with "We are telemarketing to see if you want to change mobile plans and we will include a free phone".

In fact, I think ALL telemarketers who call should BY LAW have to state something along the lines of "This is a telemarketing call. My name is (name) and I am calling on behalf of (company)". None of this "randomly selected" or "you've won" crap.
