Default High series Ghia, Fairlane & LTD cluster - how much??

I'm looking at buying a cluster out of a Fairlane or LTD with the digital speedo etc for my ED. Before I go asking wreckers for prices, how much can I expect to pay for one of these? I dont think it would matter whether it's out of a EA-EB1 or even a six because I'll take out my 5.0 tacho and put it in if I have to.

if your car doesnt already have this type of dash... its rather a pain to put it in as the Door ajar lamps will all constantly flash unless you put the sensors in each door, boot and fuel door. Also the standard Fairmont Tacho is completely different to the Fairlane/LTD/Ghia unit

on the topic of clusters will an eb ed (smart lock) cluster with the tacho and oil, battery etc guages plug straight in to replace a stock falcon one (speedo, temp and fuel gauge)??? I have heard from friends that it can work but does it require extra wiring to make the extras work etc... Would just like some confirmation and a price estimate... Thanks

muchkin, the cluster will work, just make sure you buy a oil pressure sender unit and replace the oil light sender with it. Piece of cake mate.

I can get the little switches for each door, boot and fuel flap for the door picture thingy. I was hoping that the tacho guts between the mid series and high series are the with the main difference being the size of the dial and needle. Anyone confirm this??? Another question, would it be beneficial to get the Fairlane BEM? Where in a NA would I find this? Thanks for the replies guys, I'm going to make this thing work.

The tacho on the high series clusters is also on a weird angle which could confuse things a bit

Here's a pic of the high series cluster for you (about 40,000 kms ago!)

Dont panic people, I think I found it next to the handbrake buried under grey plastic. Stay tuned.

Ok, I've got the dash and all the door switches including the reed switch for the fuel flap. Whilst opening the high series cluster, I found that the tacho has a potentiometer inside. This may mean that I can calibrate the NA six tacho to suit my V8. Here is a picture of the pot:

All I need now is somehow rig up my V8 one without the cluster and have both fitted to the car whilst it is running and then adjust the high series one to suit.

Well I managed to connect the digi dash tacho to my car via the V8 tacho. While the car was running, the pot on the 6cyl ran out of range so I couldn't manage to get it quite right. I'm going to try and solder in another pot to see if I can get it closer.

Perhaps as this is turning into a TECH thread, could a moderator move this into the tech forum please?

All up and running with red LED dash lights. Looks a million bucks except for the amount of kilometres I've inherited. 349700kms on the odometer! About 140000km more than my car. I've got another speedo sender unit to put in a drill and I'll leave the ignition and the drill on for a while and reset the damn thing after a day or two.
